Function:

Maintenance Job Summary:The Construction Manager will be responsible for the overall construction execution of the Blue Point facility which includes a greenfield world-scale ATR based ammonia production facility and integrated marine terminal. This includes direct responsibility for construction site execution, safety, quality, schedule, cost, and subcontractors. This position will also be responsible for overseeing the tracking of progress with project controls and earned value and addressing construction contractor performance deviations from the plan or the commercial agreements. Oversight of foreign module yard execution and fabrication by the EPF contractor will also be required to ensure successful completion of site construction activities. Job Description:
  • Mobilize contractors and execute all construction site activities to meet project safety and schedule commitments, while minimizing overall construction cost.
  • Manages execution of and compliance with contracts for all construction contractors.
  • Forms key part of construction contract negotiating team to ensure contracts establish site expectations, standards, and align contractor incentives with project success.
  • Work with project management to develop construction site policies.
  • Direct use of contractual structures that benefit the project execution the most in reference to certain work scopes. (Lump Sum, T&M, T&M not to exceed, etc.)
  • Manages constructability reviews between with engineering firms, equipment procurement, and construction contractors. Identifies significant gaps during execution and drives solutions with engineering and procurement that support construction progress and efficiency.
  • Monitors construction site productivity and cost deviations and promptly addresses those with the relevant party or contractor.
  • Directs planning and execution of all module carryover works and remedy of all defects
  • Collaborates with project management and commissioning to support system turnover and timely and efficient systems pre-commissioning, commissioning and startup
  • Utilize industry contacts and surveys to assess craft labor utilization and reimbursement structures in relevant regions of the US to ensure competent technical craft labor availability
  • Collaborate with project EHS leads in developing execution strategies to reinforce the company's safety-first culture, and so that intended results are achieved
  • Recognize and share cost savings synergies and opportunities for improvement
  • Support direct reports in their efforts to contribute to the improvement of site execution, including safety, quality, schedule, and cost

Incumbent Attributes:

  • Engineering or Construction Management degree or 15+ years relevant experience required
  • 15+ years of progressively more complex work experience in management of installation of civil, structural steel, pipe, mechanical equipment, electrical, instrumentation, refractory, and subcontract management
  • Significant experience with capital project (>$200M) or turnarounds (>$20M) planning, estimating, and execution through commissioning and startup.
  • Experience directly overseeing individual construction or turnaround sites having > 1,000 personnel working onsite.
  • A demonstrated ability to independently identify and develop new technology solutions opportunities.
  • Ability to lead others in a matrixed reporting relationship through influence and persuasion.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organization, planning and time management skills
  • Demonstrated abilities to take initiative, create new opportunities, and operate in an emerging clean energy technologies environment.
  • Proven ability to effectively establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external constituents
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Strong computer skills, proficient in MS Office Suite preferred
  • Willing and able to travel as required to destinations globally

Position Scope/Contribution

CF Industries' strategy is to leverage the Company's unique capabilities to accelerate the world's transition to clean energy. Corporate engineering is focused on efforts to decarbonize the Company's production network, scale the Company's ability to produce low-carbon and zero-carbon fuels, position CF Industries at the forefront of clean hydrogen and ammonia supply, and other strategic manufacturing initiatives. This position will be key to development of strategic projects in the marine, energy, and technology industries and developing novel concepts to respond to global decarbonization initiatives. Carbon capture, low/no carbon hydrogen, and clean energy related technologies are evolving rapidly. This position will lead the Company's effort understanding relevant technologies and their expected evolution, working with the management team to evolve the Company's strategy accordingly, and developing new opportunities to leverage our knowledge and assets. Ability to obtain and use knowledge to contribute to the continuously evolving environment will be key to success in this position.
