Histology Tech - Mohs - Torrey Pines

This is a full time position, generally Monday through Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm. Will be located at Torrey Pines. Must be flexible to float to Rancho Bernardo as needed.

Scripps Clinic's Mohs surgery center offers skin-preserving and life-saving treatments for skin cancer, cosmetic dermatology and general dermatology. Lead by top-notch Scripps Clinic dermatologists with advanced training in Mohs micrographic surgery, our center cares for more than 2,500 patients annually.

The Histology Tech will support the Mohs cutaneous surgery department in the labs at both Torrey Pines and Rancho Bernardo. To be successful, the Histology Tech must be comfortable in an autonomous setting and will have previous experience with rapid IHC staining and Mohs procedures using frozen sections with 20-30 procedures per day. The primary function of the Histology Tech will be cutting tissue. This position is ideal for the histology tech with experience in cutting frozen tissue on a cryostat. This position reports directly to the RN Supervisor of Mohs.

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience working in a CAP accredited histology lab.
• Skilled in use of histology equipment for tissue processing, embedding, cutting and staining of tissues for pathologic diagnosis.
• Good critical thinking and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with medical terminology, with an understanding of computer systems.
  
  

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:

• Bachelor's degree in a Science field.
• HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP).
• High volume, Clinical Histology Lab experience preferred.
• QC for cutting and stain quality.
• Experience using the Leica Peloris, Sakura Prisma, Agilent Artisan LinkPro, BOND III or other staining platforms.
• Skilled in cutting frozen sections.
• Use of LIS (AP Beaker preferred).
