Job Description

This entry-level hourly (non-exempt) position is responsible for all aspects of the preparation and maintenance of qualified and non-qualified retirement plans and Section 125 plans.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Draft documents and corporate resolutions establishing plans.
  • Review existing plans in conjunction with preparing their amendment and restatement.
  • Prepare employee communications, including Summary Plan Descriptions, Summaries of Material Modifications, Beneficiary Designation Forms, election forms, and required participant notices.
  • Draft corporate resolutions and amendments.
  • Prepare various governmental filings.
  • Obtain fidelity bonds for new qualified retirement plans.
  • Apply for and secure Employer Identification Numbers and Trust Identification Numbers.
  • Provide effective and timely, both verbal and written, communications in a clear and professional manner with clients and their advisors on plan issues.
  • Coordinate with other staff members to resolve issues or gather data.
  • Research technical and regulatory concerns.
  • Develop and maintain working knowledge of retirement plan legislation and gain extensive knowledge of ERISA laws and regulations over time.
  • Conduct and complete additional assignments/projects as designated by management.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate degree and Paralegal certificate, or Bachelor's degree required.
  • Retirement industry coursework or designation preferred but not required.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks independently, demonstrate strong attention to detail, and work well under pressure in a deadline-driven environment.
  • A history of academic and/or professional success with a persistent desire for professional development and a proven track record of achieving results.
  • Qualified military veterans are encouraged to apply.
  • Ability to read and interpret legal documents.
  • Demonstrated ability to convey thoughts and ideas effectively and succinctly via written formats, including emails, letters, and electronic platforms. Maintain professional standards relating to spelling and grammar.
  • Must be professional, comfortable speaking with external and internal contacts with a demonstrated ability to tailor the message appropriately to the audience and situation effectively.
  • Maintain credibility through professional demeanor, appearance, and presence by modeling standards appropriate to our environment and industry.
  • Maintain good working relationships with internal partners by exhibiting exemplary interpersonal skills, adopting a constructive, solutions-focused approach.
  • Use sound professional judgment to balance the interests of the organization and customer, understanding and using available resources to mitigate risks.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and PDF editor products and applications, including the ability to effectively prepare or review documents, procedures, and reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new systems and applications, as well as the ability to understand, adapt and adjust responsibilities/workflows as a result of system upgrades.
  • Experience with the Relius Document ASP Subscriber System preferred but not required.
  • Occasional travel to other First American Bank locations, client meetings, Bank functions, and training facilities may be required.
  • Typical schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Additional hours may be required depending upon business need.
  • Punctuality is required to maintain First American Bank's customer service standards.
  • Additional hours may be required during our busy season (October-January) and as needed for special projects.
