Responsibilities
We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Project Mechanical Designer to join our multi-disciplinary team. In this role, you will create and maintain accurate mechanical system models that form the backbone of complex engineering and construction projects. You will collaborate closely with engineers, architects, and project managers to ensure thorough integration of mechanical systems, uphold stringent design and code requirements, and help shape best practices for mechanical design.
- Discipline Modeling & Documentation
- Create and maintain a healthy discipline model using Autodesk Revit, Plant 3D, and other BIM platforms.
- Develop parametric 2D and 3D families that tie into diagrams, schedules, and metadata as required.
- Design Reviews & Modifications
- Review drawings, pick up markups, and prepare construction documents for submissions.
- Collaborate with the Engineer of Record (EOR) to ensure code compliance and best practices in design.
- Independently perform design modifications such as pipe and duct re-sizing and specification adjustments.
- Collaboration & Coordination
- Work with multiple disciplines-both internal and external-to integrate mechanical systems into broader project models.
- Participate in team meetings, provide updates, resolve coordination issues, and maintain version control for model changes.
- Construction Administration
- Participate in tasks such as responding to RFIs, performing site visits, and supporting project walkthroughs.
- Provide expertise on mechanical systems during project execution to ensure proper installation and functionality.
- Mentorship & Development
- Guide and mentor less experienced designers and graduate engineers on mechanical design principles, best practices, and relevant codes.
- Seek continuous improvement by staying updated on industry trends, attending webinars, and pursuing targeted training opportunities.
Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of experience in piping design for mechanical systems in industrial settings, with demonstrable familiarity in chilled water, hot water/steam, compressed air, HVAC, pumps, fans, etc.
- Field experience as a pipefitter or construction detailer is preferred but not required.
- Hands-on experience with Autodesk Revit, Plant 3D, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and related BIM software.
- Ability to create and edit parametric families and handle mechanical system modeling.
- Understanding of process piping, HVAC ductwork, equipment layout, and system integration, ensuring designs are practical for construction.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and manage multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy.
- Knowledge of applicable codes and willingness to stay updated on industry standards to maintain compliance and deliver high-quality designs.
Why Join Us?
- Impactful Projects: Contribute to large-scale, complex projects that shape communities regionally and around the world.
- Professional Growth: Deepen your mechanical design expertise and broaden your skill set in project coordination and leadership.
- Collaborative Culture: Work alongside a supportive, diverse team dedicated to designing efficient, future-ready mechanical systems.
Please submit your resume, portfolio (if applicable), and a brief cover letter highlighting your relevant mechanical design experience via our online application portal. We look forward to reviewing your qualifications and learning more about your passion for delivering top-tier mechanical systems. #LI-KS1
