The University of New Mexico, College of Nursing is seeking applicants for a Tenure/Tenure Track Associate Professor or Professor. The successful applicant will be an outstanding independent scholar with experience in health policy, as demonstrated by extramural funding, implemented policies and white papers and publications in peer-reviewed journals.

The College of Nursing offers a PhD Health Policy Concentration. The concentration is an established, fifteen-year program at UNM College of Nursing. The incumbent will play a key role in continuing to grow this concentration. The College welcomes applicants interested in working with stakeholders from multidisciplinary health care, policy, and other academic areas.

This position promotes an interdisciplinary and comprehensive approach to public health, scholarly work, policy engagement and leadership in local, state, and federal government levels to enhance health.

The University of New Mexico College of Nursing, located in Albuquerque, NM, ranks in the top 15% of nursing programs in the country. With over 1,000 enrolled students, the college offers pre- and post-licensure baccalaureate, master's, post-master's, and doctoral programs. Program offerings include the state's premiere Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) programs; master's and post-master's programs across seven concentrations for APRNs, nurse educators, and nurse administrators; and the New Mexico Nurse Education Consortium baccalaureate curriculum.

Minimum Qualifications:

• PhD or equivalent terminal degree
• National and/or international leadership experience and expertise in public health and policy
• Experience teaching and mentoring students or health care professionals in the field of health systems, services, or policy
• Established program of research or scholarship with a record of extramural funding
• Record of data-based, peer reviewed publications related to a program of research, and adopted governmental policies, or national white papers, or federal directives
• If candidate's profession requires licensure, they must be eligible for licensure in New Mexico
• A record of building and maintaining local, state, or federal relationships

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience mentoring doctoral students in dissertations and grant opportunities and/or advancing research and/or scholarship in health policy.
• A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
• A record of building and maintaining relationships in New Mexico-based policies and at the Federal level
• Experience working in New Mexico-based policy leadership
• Experience working with health policy administrative and scholarship/research in one or more of the following areas: public health, state, and or federal agencies, including serving in congressional or legislative roles, finance and health policy, and health law
• Experience in any of the following agencies/organizations is desirable: Federal/Regional/State executive agencies for example, Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Health and Human Services (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Health Resources Services Administration and Indian Health Service, etc....), Federal/State Legislative branch For example, US Senate or House of Representatives Committees, State legislative or education committees, Uniformed Services, Tribal Government, and Non-profit organizations
