Job Summary

The Center for Autism and Neurodiversity (CAN) Employment Advisor's primary responsibility will be to directly mentor CAN participants on employment and life skills-related goals and foster relationships with employers seeking neurodivergent employees. This employee will: conduct individualized student meetings to assist CAN participants with determined goals related to employment; collaborate, and communicate with campus partners, specifically SCDC, around the student's progress in their coop; and assist the CAN team with the development and implementation of large-scale events to raise awareness and educate about neurodiversity.

This is an hybrid in-person position working primarily in-person.

Essential Functions



  • Meet individually with CAN students to monitor, engage, and counsel them while they are preparing for, and partaking in, co-op and employment after graduation.
  • Support both students and their employers for student success on Drexel co-ops and beyond.
  • Cultivate and steward working partnerships with employers.
  • Engage with employers on many levels on issues of neurodiversity, including working with outside partners to develop initiatives and collaborations.
  • Assist with planning and convening on and off-campus activities such as the Autism at Work: University Series events, Faculty and Staff Education Series events and working employee breakfasts with the Steinbright Career Development Center (SCDC).


Required Qualifications



  • Minimum of Master's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience advising, mentoring and/or coaching employment skills to a caseload of 25+ neurodivergent adults.
  • Familiarity with student success strategies.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office suite with a focus on Excel, and related software, including database and presentation programs.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, technology, and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse groups, including students and internal and external partners.
  • Ability to be self-directed, creative, team player.
  • Commitment to the mission of Drexel University and CAN.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience working in an employment, non-profit or higher education setting.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends to support department events.

Additional Information
This position is classified as Exempt, grade J. Compensation for this grade ranges from $47,490 to $71,230 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
