What You Will Do: The Applications Engineer supports our growing sales and design efforts by analyzing client application scenarios, providing efficient and compliant thermal solutions, and collaborating with sales teams to translate technical advantages into commercial value. This position requires an independent thinker with strong time management skills and excellent communication skills. The Applications Engineer should be proficient in refrigerant technology and heat exchanger design to support customized client needs and drive sales growth.
- Partner with sales teams to participate in client requirement workshops, interpreting technical specifications and performance criteria.
- Design tailored solutions based on refrigerant properties (e.g., R-410A, CO, ammonia, low-GWP alternatives) and heat exchanger types (plate, shell-and-tube, etc.).
- Lead technical presentations, address client inquiries, and validate feasibility through thermodynamic calculations and cost-benefit analyses.
- Utilize CAD/CFD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, ANSYS) to optimize heat exchange performance, ensuring compliance with ASHRAE, ASME, and other industry standards.
- Evaluate refrigerant substitution compliance (e.g., EPA regulations, SNAP program) to mitigate environmental and legal risks.
- Coordinate with R&D and production teams to translate designs into manufacturable products and resolve technical bottlenecks.
- Assist in drafting technical documentation (whitepapers, case studies) to highlight success stories for marketing campaigns.
- Monitor refrigerant policy updates (e.g., EPA revisions, California environmental regulations) and industry trends (e.g., hydrofluoroolefin applications) to inform product iteration.
- Analyze competitor solutions, identify technical differentiators, and empower sales strategy development.
What You Bring:
- Proficiency in engineering software (AutoCAD, ANSYS) and data analysis tools (Excel, Python).
- Strong client communication skills to translate technical concepts into business language.
- Familiarity with industrial refrigeration systems (e.g., cold food chain, data center cooling) or emerging sectors (e.g., heat pumps, thermal management for energy storage).
- EPA 608 or 609 certification (preferred).
- Professional Engineering license (preferred)
- Project management experience (PMP certification preferred).
- Willingness to travel up to 30% (client sites, industry conferences)
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or Chemical Engineering; master's degree preferred.
- 3+ years in heat exchanger/HVAC industries with expertise in refrigerant applications (types, performance, regulations).
