Job DescriptionThe Accreditation and Compliance Specialist contributes to the implementation and administration of the college's accreditation processes in support of its mission and strategic goals. The specialist guides and collaborates with functional representatives in accreditation compliance activities, such as compliance report development and supporting evidence for accreditation self-studies and reviews. Ongoing evaluation of institutional policies and practices as they relate to accreditation standards and quality is required. The position is expected to implement strategies to engage functional partners in ongoing compliance readiness through discovery, planning, communication, educational resources, and training. In doing so, the specialist identifies risks and recommends strategies for improvement and corrective action.

The specialist collaborates closely with instructional and operational partners to ensure appropriate and timely reporting of substantive changes to the college's institutional accreditor. They carry the primary responsibility of monitoring institutional and programmatic changes and preparing substantive change correspondence, including prospectus proposals and teachout plans as required by the institution's accreditor.

The specialist also administers the institutional college committee business process. This includes change management, communication and training, charter and membership repository management, and annual evaluation and reporting.

The specialist is expected to apply project management principles and strategies to execute and evaluate accreditation processes and plans.

This position reports to the Manager over the Accreditation and Compliance sector of the Institutional Effectiveness and Research (IER) division, and works closely with other IER staff and cross-functional partners to promote a culture of collaboration, institutional quality, and compliance readiness.

Hiring Range is $57,542.40 to $63,296.64

The final salary offer will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations Essential Functions:
  • Employee demonstrates TSTC Core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service, and Integrity with internal and external stakeholders, customers, students, and members of the community.
  • Assist with implementing and managing systems, processes, projects, and initiatives that advance institutional quality, continuous improvement and accreditation compliance. Work closely with divisional/departmental leads across the college to provide consultation and strategic guidance on compliance with accreditation standards, Statewide Operating Standards (SOS), and substantive change requirements. Supports programs with specialized accreditation processes and reviews as needed.
  • Deliver ongoing training to support accreditation, compliance, and other institutional effectiveness processes, such as SOS development and management as well as accreditation and substantive change report requirements and deadlines. Assess training needs and develop associated plans and training content/aids including presentations, forms, templates, and other documents as needed.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans such as timelines, milestones, key deliverables, strategic communication plans, and status reports. Coordinate and facilitate project updates and stakeholder meetings, as necessary. Develop and maintain metrics and reporting dashboards to ensure timely and effective communication and escalation (and resolution) of issues.
  • Develop specialized accreditation and compliance documents including but not limited to, prospectus proposals and teach-out plans. Facilitate proposal ideation meetings and project change requests. Maintain document repositories, databases, and departmental forms/templates including the publication of resource sites for completeness, quality, and compliance. Apply best practices for reporting and monitoring accreditation compliance and for the development and maintenance of resources and training materials.
  • Collect data and maintain evidentiary information associated with projects and reporting requirements, including approval documentation and related accreditation correspondence. Review and analyze project trends for opportunities to improve and/or to modify project plans and execution strategies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field from an accredited college or university required; Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of education requirement.
  • Minimum of three years in higher education with demonstrated experience in supporting/coordinating administrative projects.
  • Experience developing technical documents such as business plans, grants, and/or prospectuses is preferred. Experience implementing institutional effectiveness systems in higher education as it relates to accreditation compliance preferred.
  • Knowledge or understanding of accreditation standards, with an emphasis on SACSCOC or other institutional accreditation preferred.
  • Experience in project management execution preferred.

  • Strong organizational skills with proficiency handling multiple projects concurrently while meeting established priority deadlines.
  • Exceptional verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact and collaborate with leaders and diverse groups of people across all functions and levels of the organization.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to prepare high level technical proposals and solicit clear and structured content recommendations.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with a strong proficiency in technology and trouble-shooting skills.
  • Eligible for a hybrid schedule, but flexibility is required as this role may transition to a fully on-campus role in the future due to evolving business needs.
