Job Title: Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant - Stroke Response Team

Location: Novi, MI

Inpatient/Outpatient: 100% inpatient

Case Load: 99% adult; stabilize and transfer peds.

Position Overview:

Henry Ford Health - Providence Novi is seeking a Contingent Stroke Response Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our comprehensive stroke care team. This advanced practice provider will play a key role in the rapid assessment and management of patients experiencing acute stroke. Responsibilities include responding to all Code Stroke activations in the Emergency Department and on inpatient floors, activating Interventional Radiology (IR) for procedures as needed, and managing patients post-tPA (TNK) or post-intervention, including performing post-operative checks. The APP will round daily on stroke patients, complete progress notes, provide patient and family education in accordance with stroke care guidelines, and coordinate discharge planning-ensuring necessary prescriptions are submitted and follow-up care is arranged. Routine communication with the neurology team and collaboration with the neuroendovascular team is essential.

Prior experience in stroke response and care is required. New graduates will not be considered.

In collaboration with a physician, provides for the expansion of individualized primary healthcare services by diagnosing and treating certain acute or chronic health conditions. Responsibilities: Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview and examination. Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic studies. Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and patient care.| Provides direct treatment and management of health conditions via prescriptive authority or referral to other healthcare providers or community resources.| Counsels and educates patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources.| Documents delivery of health care and nursing processes in accordance with specific specialty area standards and network nursing policy. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Required Credential(s): - Nurse Practitioner credentialed from the Michigan Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Verified by local Credentialing Office. - Registered Nurse credentialed from the Michigan Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Verified by local Credentialing Office. - BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. American Red Cross (ARC) CPR for Professional Rescuers card will be accepted upon hire but renewal must be a BLS Provider card from AHA. Verified by local Credentialing Office. Education: - Master's degree of Nursing required.

Qualifications:

* NP - Completion of a Nurse Practitioner training program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)

* PA - Completion of a Physician Assistant training program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)

* NP - Certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan

* PA - Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

Licensure and Certification

* Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Michigan, or in process of applying (must have proof of application)

* National certification as an NP or PA (e.g., ANCC, AANP, NCCPA)

* Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required by American Heart Association.

* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required by American Heart Association.

* DEA/CSL, required through credentialing.

DEA - NPs do not have controlled substance licenses, only PAs. When NPs apply, they will enter MI license number instead of controlled substance license since they won't have a CSL.

* Prior experience in stroke response and care.
