The University of Virginia seeks a Senior Data Analyst in Charlottesville, Virginia. Summary of Duties: The Senior Data Analyst is responsible for analyzing data to draw conclusions and provide sophisticated analysis and reports. Support efforts to ensure that data standards are developed and maintained. Assist in business and system re-engineering and architecture development. Act as an organizational consultant on matters relating to databases. Serve as the subject matter expert in special projects related to the specific data type. Perform molecular biology techniques such as molecular cloning, RT-PCR, protein interaction assays such as ELISA or other cell-based assays. Maintain bacterial and mammalian cell cultures. Perform statistical analysis in R or other packages. Perform bioinformatic analysis using existing packages such as those found in Bioconductor or Python based packages. Collaborate with other members of the laboratory to develop functional protein assays. Conduct the analysis of information and identify, interpret, and report the trends or patterns found in data sets. Deliver recommendations based on findings. Synthesize data analysis by creating graphs, reports, and presentations of results in order to make strategic and programmatic decisions. Conduct the development of content for seminars, forums, and presentations. Present data in a way that can be easily and quickly grasped by stakeholders. Ensure that policies governing data management are met, including security and privacy. Perform bioinformatics analysis. Remote work permitted. Qualifications: Position requires a Master's degree in Biology, Biotechnology, or a related field and one (1) year of experience in the job offered or as a Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Research Scientist, Biologist, or related occupation. Alternatively, the employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biotechnology, or a related field and three (3) years of experience in the job offered or as a Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Research Scientist, Biologist, or related occupation. Position requires experience with Github, R coding, and genomic sequence analysis. Requires experience and familiarity with mass spectrometry methods including ESI and MALDI. Requires experience running molecular biology and analytical assays. Requires experience presenting results. Requires experience performing bioinformatics analysis. Remote work permitted.
