Network Engineer - Cloud and On-Premises

The Department of Interior (DOI) CHS III program is leading the way for Cloud Hosting and Applications Modernization across DOI and its subordinate bureaus. CHS III will facilitate migration of legacy on-premises applications to a modern, secure and scalable multi-cloud platform. From sensors in active volcanic regions to earthquake detection data, CHS III will be DOI's central cloud processing and data solution.

We are looking for a Senior Network Engineer to support on-premise and AWS networking tasks. Main duties include implementing networks, cloud interconnects and responding to Tier 3 support issues. Manages network performance, diagnoses performance problems and undertakes tuning activities to ensure network performance meets SLR requirements. Troubleshoots and resolves problems to ensure quality transmission service on the network. Reports on overall network performance including frequent problems, underlying issues and plans to improve network availability, performance and problem resolution. Maintains and updates system security plans on all platforms. Implements and coordinates network policies, procedures and standards. Enforces network security procedures.

Basic Qualifications

0 Years with BS/BA, 4 Years experience with no degree
• Must be a US Citizen
• Candidate must have an Active Public Trust or the ability to obtain one is required
• Must have at least one of the following certifications or able to attain within 90 Days of Hire:
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
• Fortinet Certified Associate
• Network+
• Candidate must have Network Administration experience in Cloud or On-Premise environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5 years work experience with BS/BA; 3 years work experience with MS/MA;
• Preferred experience with:
• AWS CloudFormation
• AWS VPC implementation, administration and troubleshooting.
• AWS Direct Connect
• On-site Networking Tasks:
• Experience with Cisco Network Switch installation
• Nexus 9K or similar devices
• Experience with Fortigate Firewalls
• Cabling - Fiber
• Configuration, troubleshooting and validation.
• AWS Transit Gateway
• Experience with BGP and other routing protocols
