Summary: The U.S. Army Recruiting Command (USAREC) is implementing the Accessions Information Environment (AIE) to modernize its recruiting and processing systems. AIE aims to replace multiple legacy systems with a single, integrated platform. This initiative will enhance prospecting, processing, and future Soldier management, potentially leading to improvements in identifying and retaining qualified candidates. Join Goldbelt Glacier supporting iterative, interactive and collaborative process supporting the implementation of the AIE System using the agile software acquisition process specified in DoDI 5000.87. We are seeking a skilled Computer Network Specialist to support the design, analysis, troubleshooting, and optimization of network systems across local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and internet segments. This role is critical to ensuring the seamless operation of communication networks and supporting user access and performance with minimal interruptions.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Analyze, test, troubleshoot, and evaluate existing network systems, including LAN, WAN, and internet systems.
- Monitor and perform routine network maintenance to ensure optimal operation and minimize downtime.
- Analyze test data and network performance metrics to recommend hardware or software upgrades.
- Identify areas requiring network improvements or equipment upgrades based on performance analysis.
- Conduct user needs assessments and network surveys to inform network configuration and enhancement.
- Develop and document standard operating procedures for network installation, usage, and issue resolution.
- Assist users in diagnosing and resolving data communication issues in a timely and effective manner.
- Provide user training on the use and functionality of network and communication hardware/software.
- Collaborate with IT staff and stakeholders to ensure network systems align with organizational goals.
Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols, hardware, and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, and monitoring tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation and user training.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Demonstrated professional experience supporting network systems analysis and administration.
- Experience with performance tuning, troubleshooting tools, and best practices in network security and operations.
- Ability to successfully pass an employment background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, or equivalent.
- Experience supporting government or military network systems.
- Familiarity with network design, security standards, and incident response protocols.
