Department:Natural Resources Management Office Organizational Unit:Watershed Capital Projects Position Type:Temporary Full Time/Part Time:Full Time Open Until Filled. THIS POSITION IS TEMPORARY $3,497.95 to $3,847.75 biweekly. Actual salary is negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Government Center/Viera. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with occasional early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays. This a temporary assignment to run six (6) months from the date of hire. Performs skilled professional engineering work coordinating, planning, designing, reviewing, inspecting and/or implementing assigned projects for the Natural Resources department. REQUIREMENTS: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering with coursework in hydrology and hydraulicsPLUSfive (5) years of experience in engineering related to Environmental Science, Stormwater, or a closely related fieldORa Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental EngineeringPLUSfour (4) years of experience as a Brevard County Engineer I in Natural Resources, Stormwater, or a closely related field. Must have experience and/or familiarity with the following: the Save Our Indian River Lagoon (SOIRL) Program and Plan; stormwater nutrient loading calculations and basin loading for SOIRL-related stormwater projects; and project budgeting, grant tracking, and project oversight. Supervisory experience is preferred. Registration as a State of Florida Professional Engineer (PE), in accordance with the requirements set forth in Florida Statute 471, is preferred. The following experience is preferred; Reading plans, calculating and evaluating culvert sizes, stormwater terminology, and the use of denitrification for water quality improvement.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida Driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must possess, or obtain within nine (9) months of employment, a valid Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Erosion and Sediment Control Inspectors certification and maintain said certification during the term of employment. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
