POSITION SUMMARY

SES Space & Defense, (SES S&D), line of business operates a Level 3 Engineer Office from Bristow, Virgina.Each member of the SES S&D team plays an integral part with incident management while proactively managing a Global Network of Terminals operating on regional networks 24x7x365. The Level 3 Engineering team must maintain a broad knowledge and understanding of user technology products and services. Thesefunctionsinclude IT Support Levels (Tiers), design, fabrication, integration, configuration, testing, and acceptance as defined by ITILv4 as Level 3/Tier 3 functions as well as work with antenna manufacturers across all communications platforms.

These networks span shared satellite teleports, commercial gateways, data centers, terrestrial fiber circuits, and terrestrial microwave radios. You'll leverage advanced ticketing and network monitoring tools to ensure seamless operations. At SES S&D, we pride ourselves on our regional Global MPLS Network, which guarantees the secure transport of our customers' data. Your role will be pivotal in troubleshooting anomalies, conducting installations, providing training, and performing on-site maintenance. You'll tackle issues head-on, both before and after service interruptions, delivering solutions that Tier 1/2 Technicians in the Global Network Operations Center and Field Services can't resolve. You'll be the go-to expert for restoring and maintaining our services, ensuring our customers experience uninterrupted connectivity. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Build, design, integrate, test, and certify remote satellite terminals can access satellites (LEO/MEO/GEO) and perform to manufacturer specifications
  • Experience with Frequency Spectrum Management, RF Surveys, and Site Assessments
  • Familiar with the Global Network Operations Security Center Satellite Access Request Process
  • Plan communications networks by operational regions as prescribed by task orders
  • Monitor satellite links at various teleports, terrestrial fiber, VSAT Terminals, and microwave LOS networks.
  • Provide option files and configurations files for multiple networks and network interface devices.
  • Ability to transmit and receive required documentation, outage notifications, link budgets, and trip reports
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on all equipment at various remote sites, data centers, teleports, and coordinate for local remote hands support
  • Attend and achieve necessary certifications required for Principal Engineering work
  • Disseminate information regarding planned maintenance performed at commercial teleports, report status and monitor usage for the security of our customers data.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve product-related issues resulting from installation, software and hardware upgrades, configuration changes, and equipment integration or testing
  • Communicate repair actions to close related trouble tickets for all the above functions
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures as related to each customer/end user requirements
  • Respond to emergency network outages in accordance with escalation procedures, business continuity, service level agreements, and disaster recovery plans
  • Work with various internal engineering teams to store and update technical documentation
  • Field after- hours calls to assist with resolving customer network connectivity issues
  • Protect organization's value by preserving the confidentiality of information.
  • Adhere to all prescribed security policies
  • Operate in remote regions as required for commissioning services across all communications platforms
  • Install, operate, train and maintain VSAT terminals
  • Lead the "train the trainer" program
  • Required to travel by small aircraft, snow machine, boats, and or ATV's.
  • Work will require overnight stays in remote locations, including OCONUS locations and small villages.
  • Escalation of support to Level 3 Engineering requires work outside of normal operating hours and may include work on weekends when necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • High School Diploma with 5+ years experience or College Degree with 3+ years relatable experience
  • Experience in wireless communication, network engineering, or related field
  • 5-8years experience in progressively complex network systems
  • A + certification, or ability to obtain within 180 days of hire
  • Network + certification, or ability to obtain within 365 days of hire
  • Proven experience and expertise in satellite and network troubleshooting exhibiting strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with ability to work independently or in a team environment
  • Experience managing and supporting iDirect remote terminals, TCP/IP traffic to include general networking concepts and SATCOM/RF concepts for LEO/MEO/GEO applications
  • Knowledge of current IT systems/platforms, operating systems, applications, and security methods.
  • Ability to guide and mentor newly hired technicians and provide continual process
  • Active U.S. Government Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain SECRET clearance level preferred


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • Prior SATCOM remote terminal experiencepreferred
  • iDirect TDMA, IPoS, A+, and Net+ certifications experience preferred
  • Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office suite and applications
  • IP routing and switching related experience in areas of Juniper or Cisco network interface technologies
  • Use of various trouble ticketing systems like,Science LogicSL1, ServiceNow etc.
  • Use of spectrum monitoring tools such as SatMonics, etc.
  • Use of network monitoring tools such as Whats Up Gold, SolarWinds etc.



The base salary range for this full-time position is $145,000.00 - $185,000.00 + bonus + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
