Duties, Responsibilities & Other

KCI Technologies is looking to hire a Civil Engineering Co-op out of our Sparks, MD office. Our Land Development Civil Engineering group works on a wide range of site-specific projects supporting residential, commercial, and industrial development. Students will gain hands-on experience preparing site plans, designing stormwater management systems, grading and drainage plans, and water, sewer, and storm drainage layouts. Our team is involved in every stage of the land development process - from concept planning and permitting to final design and construction support. Projects often include roadway and access design to support new development. This is a great opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers and learn the full life cycle of land development projects.

Key Responsibilities

    Use engineering software to assist with the design of site development projects, including stormwater management, grading, roadway access, and utility systems (water, sewer, and storm drain).
  • Support the preparation of technical reports, permit applications, and documentation summarizing site design analysis and engineering recommendations for internal teams and clients.
  • Gather site-specific data through routine project site visits to support feasibility studies, design development, and permitting efforts.
  • Assist in the preparation of project-specific site development plans, including layout, grading, stormwater management, and utility design plans.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to support the planning, design, and permitting of land development projects.
  • Learn and apply industry best practices, local codes, and land development regulations related to residential, commercial, and industrial site projects.
  • Gain hands-on experience with engineering software and systems such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS platforms, StormCAD, OpenRoads, and HEC-RAS.


Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a college Engineering program.
  • AutoCAD skills desired but not required.
  • No experience required.
  • Minimum GPA 3.0
  • Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment. Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.
