Information Services Req #: 32463 Summary The Associate Chief Information Officer (ACIO) plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and effective day-to-day operations of information technology (IT) systems across MaineHealth. Reporting to the Chief Information and Digital Officer (CIDO), the ACIO will oversee large portions of the operational management of the IT Division, ensuring that all IT infrastructure, applications, and services meet the needs of the health system. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IT operations, leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate across divisions and within clinical, research and administrative areas to enhance technological capabilities while maintaining operational excellence. Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Education:Bachelor's Degree required. Master's degree in information technology, Computer Science or related field preferred.
- Licenses/Certifications:N/A.
- Experience:Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in IT operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in a healthcare setting.
- Strong experience managing IT teams and overseeing complex IT systems and infrastructures in a large-scale environment.
- In-depth understanding of healthcare IT operations, including EHR/EMR and other healthcare applications including imaging systems, ERP systems and health data interoperability.
- Expertise in IT infrastructure management, network administration, and systems integration.
- Familiarity with IT governance frameworks and industry standards (e.g., HIPAA, HITRUST).
- Strong knowledge of effective project management, to ensure that initiatives are successfully implemented. This includes the ability to oversee multiple concurrent initiatives.
- Knowledge of security protocols, disaster recovery strategies, and business continuity planning.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including presentation to executive leaders including the Board, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Essential Functions
- Operational Leadership:Oversee daily IT operations, including systems administration, infrastructure maintenance, network security, support services and incident management, to ensure the seamless delivery of IT services across the health system.
- Team Management: Supervise and mentor the IT operations team, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations to ensure high levels of service delivery and technical proficiency.
- System and Infrastructure Maintenance: Ensure the reliable operation of all IT systems, including hardware, software, and networking infrastructure, while identifying opportunities for process improvements and cost-saving measures. Work to eliminate technical debt while streamlining and modernizing MaineHealth' s technology infrastructure.
- IT Governance and Compliance: Work with the CIDO to ensure that all IT operations adhere to relevant health industry regulations, policies, and best practices, with a focus on data security, patient confidentiality, and compliance with HIPAA.
- Service Continuity and Disaster Recovery: Develop and implement strategies for system reliability, disaster recovery, and business continuity to minimize disruptions and ensure the availability of critical IT systems.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with clinical, administrative, and operational teams to understand IT needs and align technology solutions with the overall strategic goals of the health system.
- Budget Management: Assist in the development and management of the IT budget, ensuring that projects are executed within budget constraints while maintaining optimal service levels.
- Vendor Management: Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers to ensure effective contract negotiations, performance evaluations, and resolution of issues that may arise.
- Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and healthcare IT trends to identify opportunities to enhance the technological capabilities of the health system, with a focus on improving patient care and operational efficiency.
