Join our team as a Senior Pricing Analyst
This position is a hybrid or remote role based out of Maple Plain, MN. You must be located in MN.
The Senior Pricing Analyst is responsible for data-driven pricing strategy and operationalization within our pricing infrastructure, blending strong business and technical acumen to drive company objectives. This role workscross-functionally with R&D and ML, sales, engineering, manufacturing, and product management. In addition to maintaining price efficacy on a day-to-day basis, this role also assists with long term platform development in pursuit of experimentation and optimization capabilities within pricing.

What you'll do:
  • Pricing execution
  • Facilitate business requests and action against company goals via pricing platform quickly and accurately
  • Assist with triage and root cause analysis of pricing errors or inquiries
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the executional platform, potentially through incorporation of new data or variables or other opportunities
  • Provide subject matter expertise on how to leverage pricing as it pertains to nuances or limitations of the executional platform
Data
  • Subject matter expertise for conducting pricing analyses, such as fixed and variable costs, quoting behavior and metadata, part mix, quantity and lead times, and beyond.
  • Assists with identifying or diagnosing discrepancies or errors of pricing related data
  • Participate in User Acceptance Testing for enhancements to data, tools, or other technologies
  • Guide web scraping or competitive research activities to drive understanding of Protolab's positioning in the marketplace
Reporting and analysis
  • Leverage elasticity modeling or forecasting techniques to project financial implications of price changes
  • Leverage exploratory data analysis or data visualization to distill and summarize complex findings
  • Partner with Product Leaders to develop long term roadmaps for pricing
  • Develop pricing and implementation plans for new services or technologies, leveraging internal proxy data or external data sources
  • Ownership and modernization of pricing reporting, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and effectiveness of reporting
Business acumen
  • Leverage data, analyses, and subject matter expertise to influence peers and leaders
  • Convey complex or technical topics in laymen's terms to a non-technical audience
  • Build presentations to leadership in the spirit of driving change or influencing decision making
  • Develop strong relationships as the pricing subject matter expert for other parts of the organization or for cross-functional projects
What it takes:
  • Bachelor's Degree (prefer Economics, Business, Data Science, or related)OR equivalent experience
  • Advanced degree a plus
  • 4+ years of pricing experience
  • Experience working successfully within a matrixed organization, effectively influencingcross-functionally, across divisions and at various levels of management
  • Familiarity with E-commerce based pricing and/or B2B pricing
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficient in SQL (SQL Server or Snowflake preferred)
  • Intermediate skills in Python for data analysis, statistical modeling, and/or price optimization
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Experience with rules engine type pricing platforms and creation and implementation of rules to accomplish business goals
  • Solid knowledge of pricing methodologies such as segmentation, value-based pricing, cost-based pricing, and price optimization
  • Expert in MS Excel, including pivot tables, linear and logistic regressions, and statistical techniques
  • Experience in data visualization and dashboard creation (Domo preferred)
  • Ability to influence peers and leaders without authority
  • Ability to lead through ambiguity and change

Physical Demands:

Occasionally works in outside weather conditions. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
