Overview

Summary:

This is a mechanical engineering internship opportunity for a current full-time upper division engineering student. You will gain hands-on experience with assignments that familiarize yourself with equipment and tools used by working MEs in the exciting field of high frequency electronic packaging for the defense industry. At the San Diego facility, products are designed and manufactured to protect our ships, aircraft, and most importantly, our country. Join the CAES by Honeywell San Diego team and gain valuable engineering experience while helping protect U.S. and allied forces around the world

The internship will be for a period of approximately 2 months during the summer.


Responsibilities

  • Review and manipulate tooling and packaging layouts using 2D and 3D CAD Software
  • Create, check, and release formal engineering documentation
  • Interface with and/or direct machinists, technicians, assemblers and suppliers to execute hardware builds and testing
  • Perform basic tooling design and implementation under the direction of engineers and managers
  • Provide engineering support of existing products under the direction of engineers, and managers

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree with a minimum of two years of college level course work at an accredited four-year university with a major in mechanical engineering or a similar technical discipline.
  • Have a basic knowledge of AutoCAD and SolidWorks or exposure to similar 2D and 3D CAD software tools.
  • Basic knowledge of industry standard drafting, dimensioning and tolerancing practices.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work effectively as a part of an integrated design team.
  • The ability to use common hand, power and shop tools.
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export law. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a "US Person" under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license)

Hourly Pay Range: $20 - $28 per hour (San Diego).
