Sanitary Disposal, a Waste Connections company, is looking for a full-time Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team in Hermiston, Oregon. Scheduled work week is Wednesday - Sunday 8:00am-4:30Pm with Occasional overtime as needed, approximately 45-50 hour work week. Starting rate of pay is $28.66/Hour DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • 3 Year minimum experience efficiently operating 938 CAT Front End Loader, Skid Steer, Excavator, Backhoe, Forklift and Yard Truck.
  • Compactor experiencepreferred.
  • Performs routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles such as checking oil, water, and tires.
  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
  • Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
  • As a Heavy Equipment Operator/ Laborer of the transfer station, you will assist operators and site manager with records and maintain a daily operation record, per facility requirements.
  • Flagging & directing traffic as it comes through site.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of the facility is maintained in a safe and professional manner. General site cleanup.
  • Perform assigned duties working at the transfer station.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly throughout the day.
  • This is a physical job working in a covered area as well as outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Have at least 2 years of work experience as well as a stable work history.
  • Manual labor includes paper picking, keeping the facility clean and presentable.
  • Operates front-end loader, skid steer, forklift and excavatorsfor general site preparation, landscaping, and related assignments.
  • Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
  • Perform Grounds Maintenance/Landscaping.
  • Perform general office maintenance and repairs including painting and janitorial work.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Promoting continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Interacting with customers and Waste Connections employees to determine safe and environmentally sound solutions to service issues.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Must be dependable with an ability to lead.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
