Goodwill of Western Missouri & Eastern Kansas has a rich, 130+ year history, serving the community in Kansas City and the surrounding areas since 1894. Summary/Objective
The Excel Center Kansas City is an accredited, free high school serving Missouri residents age 21+ in the Kansas City area who want to earn a high school diploma. The school will eventually be located at Bannister Rd & Hwy 435 and provides students with transcript assistance, coaching and life/learning barrier assistance, and drop-in childcare with five terms per year. Opening in Fall 2025.
The Manager, Office Administration ("Office Manager" or "MOA") is responsible for the organization and coordination of office operations, procedures, scheduling, and resources to facilitate organizational effectiveness and efficiency of The Excel Center Kansas City. Works closely with staff and students to supervise and maintain orderly operations for the school including student enrollment, community support, events, and graduations and adhering to all state of Missouri and accreditation academic standards. Position requires strong focus on customer service with a can-do, professional attitude and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for ensuring effective office and administrative operations, procedures, scheduling, safety, and resources for the school and front office on behalf of director, staff, students, and community.
  2. Responsible for enrolling students in the school, efficiently and accurately, maintains enrollment systems, communicates and meets deadlines and requirements, and reporting.

    • Acts as the point of contact for student enrollment in the school.
    • Reports and problem solves enrollment issues
    • implements tactics for hitting enrollment goals.


  3. Responsible for ordering supplies and maintaining inventory management to organizational budgets and standards.
  4. Responsible for coordinating school related events and graduations.
  5. Responsible for adhering to ethics, procedures, and protocol, including maintaining confidentiality, systems, and adheres to the Excel Center and Goodwill values.
  6. Maintain required building rosters, sign-in and onsite staff, student, and guest logs.
  7. With Director, serves as point of contact for maintaining all facility safety and security requirements, trainings, communications, and school closures.
  8. Manages an inventory of supplies and materials for the staff utilizing the electronic purchasing system and process.
  9. Maintains systems of communication and branding throughout the school building.
  10. Main point of contact for all incoming calls and inquiries of the school via phone, walk-in, otherwise.
  11. Participates in student recruitment, enrollment, and outreach efforts.
  12. Supports and assists with community partner relationships and student outreach.
  13. Assists with outreach and promotion through website and social media posts and updates.
  14. Works with the school director to support school-wide goals around graduation outcomes, enrollment needs, student achievement, retention, etc.
  15. Sets and maintains a high-performance culture for staff and students.
  16. May serve as substitute for school positions such as teacher or daycare.
  17. Develops personal professional/performance goals and action plans to reach goals. Reflects on prior goals and makes adjustments to professional practice and goals.
  18. Works with the team to make valued contributions in order to achieve the required goals and outcomes.
  19. Other duties as assigned.



Qualifications
The role will be a proven leader with the following:



  • Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred in business administration, education, communications, or related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience preferred in front office administrative work, that may include supplies inventory and purchasing, planning and attending to details, and completing multiple tasks accurately, organized, and timely.
  • Experience working in a school-related environment a plus.
  • Technical Proficiency and demonstrated working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint), and the internet is required. Experience using G Suite Google Workspace and/or student information systems is desired.
  • Excellent and appropriate communication skills as needed for a professional and academic environment using verbal, written, presentation, visual, non-verbal, digital and listening. The ability to deliver information to a variety of audiences.
  • Organizational Aptitude: Excellent planning and organizing skills; ability to prioritize, multi-task, with extremely thorough attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strong customer service with an effective unbiased, can-do, professional attitude.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work independently and take initiative to manage to outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the role with a positive attitude, leadership and effective, appropriate and professional communication and demeanor.

  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.



Position Type/Expected Hours of Work/Travel


  • This is a full-time position.
  • Work hours are generally Monday - Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, however work schedule will vary as based on the needs of the business.
  • Some evening or weekend work is expected to meet the needs of the role; the school hours may include evening classes as well as meetings and events.
  • Day-time travel within the MoKan region will be required occasionally.
  • Overnight travel is not expected but will be limited by need and/or approval.

This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment. This job also may operate in varied environments which may include store, warehouse, mobile workforce unit, and office. May work with diverse cultures and ethnicities, as well as justice involved individuals.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is an active role. The employee must have the ability to communicate verbally and apply active listening skills, lift up to 25 pounds, bend and possibly stand for prolonged periods of time as necessary.
