ENGINEER (Structural - Dam Safety and Hydro Engineering) XA6502

About The Position

The Civil Engineer performs civil design in support of projects, engineering studies, engineering design calculations, and project management activities for the maintenance & renovation of existing or construction of new distribution substations & facilities throughout Ameren Missouri. This position requires handling multiple projects and assignments simultaneously.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Prepare specifications & drawings for:
    • Site development design; which includes layout & grading of substation sites less than an acre to 3 acres or more.
    • Drainage design; which includes stormwater detention modeling, storm sewer & underdrain systems, and pipe culvert analysis.
    • Access road design; which includes layout of 50 foot to mile long roadways.
    • Foundation design of concrete drilled piers, spread footings, and mat foundations.
    • Steel and anchorage design for structures supporting substation equipment.
    • Geotechnical analysis and design of retaining walls.
  • Experience in the following commercial software applications is preferred: AutoCAD Civil 3D, LPILE, SPMats, STAAD or similar FEA software.
  • Perform detailed civil and/or structural design and work with the drafting group to complete drawings.
  • Develop construction specifications and complete bid documents, direct drawing preparation and assist in providing cost estimates.
  • Assist or lead in the planning and oversight/management of projects.
  • Coordinate design activities with other departments and outside companies such as: real estate, drafting, other engineering groups, environmental services, construction crews, contractors, surveying and consulting firms.
  • Review shop drawings, perform site visits during construction, and use problem solving skills to develop timely resolutions to field issues.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university required. Applicant must have taken and passed (or awaiting results from) the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam. Professional Engineer (P.E.) License or commitment to actively pursue one in Missouri is required. Two or more years of civil engineering experience preferred. New graduates will be considered.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Good analytical, communications and human relations skills required. Must be able to handle multiple assignments/projects with varying completion dates and effectively prioritize. Must be able to work effectively as part of a team.

Ameren's selection process includes a series of interviews and may include candidate testing and/or an individual aptitude or skill-based assessment. Specific details will be provided to qualified candidates.

* Salary and career level dependent upon individual credentials.

Compensation Range:

$69,300.00 - $210,000.00

* This pay range encompasses multiple levels of the role. Career level and compensation depends upon applicant's credentials.

At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
