The Deal Lead will work with clients from origination to execution of M&A and block reinsurance deals. They will develop and price optimal client solutions and affirm MARC's position as the leading reinsurer in the M&A and block reinsurance space.

This position will be responsible for developing innovative client solutions and will contribute to marketing and executing those solutions with clients.

Responsibilities:

Business development

  • Maintain high visibility in the market by meeting with insurers, PE-backed reinsurers, banks/brokers; attending and speaking at industry meetings, publishing articles, and joining pertinent industry committees.
  • Develop strong relationships with internal customers in key functional areas which include pricing, legal, risk management, corporate and central functions, to promote client focus and being a preferred provider.
  • Develop potential leads into tangible business by creating thoughtful pitches, and gathering appropriate internal resources for each opportunity.
  • Ideate new and creative ideas to develop business/client solutions.

Client relationship management

  • Address clients' needs in a timely and insightful manner so MARC is seen as a business partner and not just a provider of services.
  • Liaise across key internal departments to meet client requests and also provide innovative client solutions.
  • Develop industry knowledge and expertise on topics impacting clients.
  • Provide superior value by giving meaningful guidance and insight during client interactions.
  • Use experience and knowledge that provides organizational influence to meet clients' needs

Treaty pricing and negotiation

  • Lead and oversee deals, working with both the client and pricing actuary to assess key risks, set best estimate assumptions, calculate an optimal price that also meets MARC's profit metrics.
  • Approve and facilitate approvals of deals with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Effectively transfer expertise to staff and motivate teams.
  • Work with clients and internal/external counsel to negotiate treaty terms and conditions to provide the necessary protection for MARC. Be MARC's primary negotiator on economic aspects of each deal.

Financial Results

  • Negotiate deals effectively with the goal of maximizing economic value for MARC while balancing the need for market solutions and maintaining strong, trusting relationships with clients.
  • Understand the dynamics which impact the profitability of the business and ensure that problems are discovered early.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in life M&A and block reinsurance required.
  • 10+ years' experience in life insurance/reinsurance
  • FSA required
  • Experience in client management and/or business development required.
  • Experience in direct and/or reinsurance pricing preferred.
  • Experience in public speaking/presenting effectively to groups preferred.

For New York City based employees, the base salary range anticipated for this position is $264,560- $306,322, plus an opportunity for an annual company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay.
