HDR is providing PM/CM services for the Los Angeles World Airports ATMP Landside Improvements Project. The project will deliver critical improvements to the roadways, streets, and thoroughfares in and around the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) campus. HDR will assist with the management of projects throughout the design, preconstruction, and construction phases, from inception to closeout. HDR is proud to lead a strong team of world-class professionals to sculpt this project that is a key part of the infrastructure transformation ahead of the 2028 Olympics and will serve millions of travelers and Angelenos for decades to come.


In the role of Roadway Construction Lead, we'll count on you to support the Construction Manager with the following responsibilities:


  • Provide leadership and guidance for the implementation and administration of the Project.
  • Assure the development and allocation of proper resources to implement and administer construction contracts and agreements properly and timely.
  • Work cooperatively with external stakeholders, including Caltrans and local jurisdictions, on politically sensitive problems and interagency and public relations work.
  • Review of D-B Daily Construction and Quality Control Reports
  • Develop weekly and monthly progress and project status update reports
  • Roadway submittals - TCPs, contingency plans, removal plans, ASR, USR, LIR, Caltrans lane closure requests, temporary pedestrian access routes, ADA compliance checklists
  • Roadway material submittals - HMA (AC) and concrete mix designs, sub-base, aggregate base, aggregate sub-base, roadway signs, striping and pavement markings, storm drain materials, hardscaping and landscaping
  • Review request for information, field notices, changes and non-compliance reports
  • Coordination with LAWA Inspection and LAWA Materials Testing for Quality Assurance
  • Support LAWA Inspection with as-needed resources, expertise and training
  • Utility and 3rd Party Coordination / Inspection / Final Acceptance of work
  • Environmental compliance coordination - SWPPP, Air Quality, Noise, Vibration and Crack monitoring, Hazardous waste / materials management, environmental monitoring
  • Review monthly environmental compliance reports
  • Temporary and permanent ADA compliance coordination
  • Closeout, final walk, punch list, warranties, asbuilts, final acceptance #LI-JF1

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
  • Progressive Design Build experience
  • Contractor background
  • Experience leading construction management efforts for large transportation infrastructure projects
  • Experience with estimating software, scheduling software, project management software and web-based collaboration software for the exchange of documents
  • Minimum of 10 years of relatedexperience in highway and bridge projects, transit, rail grade separations, or other transportation-related projects.
  • Successful business development trackrecord
  • Southern California experience is preferred
  • LAWA experience
  • Experience with City of Los Angeles, Caltrans or similar DOT work


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Construction Science or closely related field or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in various aspects of construction planning and management, including but not limited to construction contracts; document, time, cost, and quality management; change management; and site safety. estimating, bidding, preparing and administering purchase orders and subcontracts, scheduling, cost control, etc.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Experience with construction management software such as Procore, Prolog, Primavera, Bluebeam, etc.
  • Must have strong people skills and the ability to interact with the Owner, Engineer, Contractor and other project stakeholders
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
