Position Overview:
The Aquatic Programs Assistant provides hands-on support for the daily operations and programming of the aquatic center. This role contributes to maintaining a safe, welcoming, and well-organized environment by assisting with facility upkeep, helping to implement programs, and supporting lifeguard teams as needed. Responsibilities include aiding in pool maintenance, helping coordinate program logistics, reinforcing facility policies, and stepping in to support staff coverage when necessary. This is a collaborative position with opportunities for growth and increased responsibility over time.
Pay & Schedule



  • Rate of Pay: $17.36 - $21.71 per hours, commensurate with education and/or experience.


  • Schedule: 40 hours per week with a variable schedule based on programming needs. Flexibility is key - some evenings, weekends, and holidays are required.



What You'll Be Doing
As an Aquatic Programs Assistant, you'll support the smooth operation of our aquatic programs and facilities. You'll help ensure every guest feels welcome, every class runs smoothly, and every lifeguard is supported. Responsibilities include:



  • Reinforcing a safe and welcoming environment by helping enforce aquatic center policies.


  • Educating and monitoring patrons on safe use of aquatic areas.


  • Assisting with lifeguard and swim instructor training and certifications.


  • Leading swim lessons, water fitness classes, and in-service trainings.


  • Supporting pool maintenance efforts, including chemical checks and equipment troubleshooting.


  • Tracking attendance and program participation.


  • Setting up and managing equipment for aquatic events and classes.


  • Providing emergency care as needed and being available on-call for urgent staffing, chemical, or mechanical issues.


  • Maintaining confidentiality and following Safe from Harm guidelines.


  • Creating a positive team atmosphere and stepping in to help wherever needed.



What We're Looking For
Education & Certifications:


  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree is preferred

  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard and First Aid certification


  • Ability to obtain Lifeguard Instructor and Certified Pool Operator certification within 6 months



Experience:



  • At least 2 years of lifeguard experience (required)


  • Experience teaching swim lessons (preferred)



Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities



  • Familiarity with water chemistry and pool maintenance (preferred)


  • Collaborative spirit with strong teamwork and communication skills


  • Customer service mindset with a focus on safety and professionalism


  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays


  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate clearly in English.

  • Able to pass background and motor vehicle record checks
