Summary

The Philanthropy Operations team seeks a short-term volunteer interested in learning how revenue raised through donors fits into the larger context of Save the Children's fundraising and implementation. The intern will provide a range of research, writing, information management, and administrative support to our dynamic team. In return, the individual will gain experience in fundraising strategy, prospect research, and will develop familiarity with current trends in philanthropy, international development, children's issues, and the day-to-day operations of a large international non-governmental organization (INGO).

Dates: May 12-June 6

What You'll be Doing (Essential Duties & Responsibilities)



  • Conduct research and landscape analyses on areas such as donor trends, philanthropic landscape and potential areas for giving within our international and/or domestic programs for children.
  • Research alignment with existing and potential foundation donors, corporate partners and individual donors.
  • Support for mailings and other donor outreach.
  • Assist in creating and writing content for donor messaging, including blogs, concept notes, emergency response materials, donor proposals, and presentations.
  • Support knowledge management efforts, including the cataloging of assets and resources on our online database
  • Attend department, division and all-staff meetings, and participate as appropriate.
  • Other special projects as needed.


Required Qualifications



  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Professional proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate with individuals and teams
  • Possess strong written skills, solid interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team
