The GIS Analyst collects, organizes, edits, performs image interpretation, and performs data vectorization tasks to produce finished products that meet internal and/or external client requirements. Performs QA/QC. Participates in the development of tools used for data creation and QA/QC. Acts as a technical resource and provides assistance and training as needed. This is an onsite position working for the Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Position Location: Onsite in Baton Rouge, LA MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES: reating, converting, analyzing, and disseminating geospatial data. eveloping tools and methodologies for data creation, conversion, analysis, graphic editing, and dissemination. erforming QA/QC and reporting of GIS data, maps, and visualizations. eveloping tools and methodologies for data QA/QC and reporting of GIS data, maps, and visualizations. odifies and updates production software tools. ssists with client communication on technical matters when necessary. anages timing of production tasks to maximize efficiency. ther duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION: Associates degree in a relevant field of study, such as geomatics, engineering, or geography. Equivalent experience may be substituted for education requirement. EXPERIENCE:
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, write and analyze general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as factions, percentages, and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
