PRN Educator

Description
Provides and plans safe efficient age specific nursing care for patients/families. Teaches scheduled educational programs using current class outlines. (25%) Maintains competence/current certification and incorporates accurate, scientific knowledge into the practice of Childbirth/Parenting education. (25%) Promotes the collaboration of clients with the health care team. (10%) Respects the uniqueness and privacy of each expectant parent and family member. (15%) Collaborates with other educators by attending at least 2 out of 4 departmental meetings per year. (10%) Communicates as needed with the program manager. (15%) Additional educational certification required in an accredited training program such as Lamaze International, International Childbirth Education Association, CAPPA, Boot Camp for New Dads, AHA CPR Instructor, etc. Thorough knowledge of the philosophy of Childbirth/Parenting education. Demonstrated ability to teach/instruct Childbirth/Parenting classes. Uses a variety of teaching strategies (posters, handouts, demo and return demo, group activities, AV equipment/power point). Knowledge of group process (teaching adult learners) to meet the educational needs of both the Childbirth/Parenting participant.
