Summary/ Objective:

Maintain the accuracy of inventory and minimize financial loss. Support and control inventory movements within the distribution center by ensuring accuracy of physical inventory and resolving areas of potential loss through analysis of current storage conditions.

Essential Functions:



  • Manage and conduct daily cycle counts
  • Research inventory variances resulting from cycle counts and backorders
  • Manage daily inventory adjustment report and confirm variance per determined threshold
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies resulting from vendor errors or shipping errors
  • Ensure health of inventory by managing date codes and FIFO best practices
  • Monitor flow of goods throughout the warehouse and recommend layout changes as needed
  • Monitor quality of inventory in storage location (damages, torn label, UL label, etc)
  • Communicate with delivery driver, salesman and accounting regarding returned material
  • Monitor and facilitate the replenishment of picking locations from bulk inventory
  • Assist in the creation of stock transfers to replenish branch inventories
  • Conduct periodic reviews of written inventory procedures and submit revisions as needed
  • Monitor excess inventory at Branch locations and manage reverse transfers.
  • Pull and pack orders when necessary
  • Process returns and defective credits
  • Competencies:
  • Knowledge and understanding of inventory control practices
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • A strong background in warehouse operations including, shipping, receiving and inventory control
  • Proficiency in computer systems, including Microsoft office and Warehouse Management Systems.
  • Maintain a positive work environment by behaving and communicating in a professional, courteous, respectful, ethical manner with customers, vendor partners, outside suppliers, co-workers, and supervisors.
  • Understand and comply with SYD policies

  • There are no direct reports for this position


Work Environment:

This job operates primarily in a warehouse environment. Varying temperatures and moving equipment are present in the warehouse. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have:



  • the ability to stand, walk for moderately long distances, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, push/pull) weight up to 50lbs unassisted
  • The ability to climb a ladder
  • The ability to operate a forklift, pallet jack, and various warehousing machinery/tools
  • Ability to use a keyboard and type proficiently
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job may include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

Travel:

This position may require occasional travel.

Clearances and Certifications:



  • Various clearances will be required
  • U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Resident status required.
  • Forklift certified or the ability to become Forklift Certified is required including use of a cherry picker


Education and Experience:



  • 2+ years experience in an inventory control or logistics environment (preferred)
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
