WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview):

The Senior Associate, Logistics Workforce Management reporting to the Logistics Readiness Manager plays a pivotal role in supporting the Logistics and Disaster Services Technology (DST) programs in managing and developing volunteer cadres and ensuring effective logistics operations during national disasters. Responsibilities include volunteer training, deployment coordination, workforce planning, and improving operational readiness.

The Senior Associate, Logistics Workforce Management develops a community of engagement which enhances cadre readiness, reinforcing an agile and well-prepared workforce capable of meeting the ongoing demands of disaster operations. This position will advise the Manager of Logistics Readiness on the Red Cross' national logistics capability, shortfalls, and opportunities.

The Senior Associate, Logistics Workforce Management is an emergency management role and requires participation in relief operations leadership roles at NHQ and other various locations.

This is a fully remote position that works on EST. Travel is required and so is deployment 1x a year for a National disaster.

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Key Responsibilities):

Training and Leadership Development Coordination: Works closely with program staff to create and deliver targeted training programs. This ensures that cadre members have the skills and knowledge needed to perform effectively during deployments and adapt to evolving program/operational needs. Operational Readiness and Resource Management: Responsible for supporting the program staff in overseeing the availability, readiness, and proper allocation of human resources within their cadre. This includes tracking deployment readiness and ensuring that staffing levels meet program standards.

Performance Management and Improvement: Collaborates with program staff on setting clear performance standards, providing regular feedback, and implementing improvements to meet organizational goals. This involves assessing team performance after deployments, identifying gaps, and supporting professional growth.

Strategic Workforce Planning: Works with program staff to anticipate future needs and trends, aligning recruitment and retention strategies to ensure that the cadre has a sustainable pipeline of qualified personnel. This includes addressing staffing gaps, developing succession plans, and engaging in cross-training initiatives to enhance flexibility across functions.

Volunteer Engagement and Retention: Works with program staff, Regions and Divisions to create engagement strategies that keep volunteers active and motivated. This includes regular communication, check-ins, and providing opportunities for feedback and professional growth, as well as recognizing achievements to retain a strong and capable volunteer base.

Deployment Coordination: Coordinate with Resource Management Services (RMS), Disaster Workforce Engagement, and other departments as necessary on the deployment of cadre members to ensure timely and efficient staffing of disaster response and recovery operations. Collaborate with program staff to align deployment needs with skillsets and availability, ensuring that volunteers are properly prepared for each mission.

Community Building: Serves as the lead coordinator of national training events, monthly calls, continuing education webinars, and other engagement initiatives.

Standardizing Processes and Best Practices: Develop and document standardized processes and best practices for logistics programs within the cadres. Monitor the effectiveness of logistics processes and procedures and recommend modifications to increase the efficiency of operations.

Emergency Response and Deployment: Support the Disaster Logistics Center (DLC), including Disaster Operations Coordination Center activation, after-hours coverage, and any additional logistics support required by the National Logistics Program. Deploy (virtually or physically as required) to large-scale national disaster relief operations as needed.

The salary range for this position is $94,000.00 - $103,000.00

This job will be posted for a minimum of five business days and extended if the applicant pool needs to be expanded.

Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications):

Education: Bachelor's degree required.

Experience: Minimum 7 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.

Skills & Abilities: Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and under pressure are required. Effective verbal and written communication skills are required. Excellent computer skills required. Ability to work on a team.

Travel: Travel is required.

* Combination of candidate's education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description's minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The work environment will consist of moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones and printers, light traffic). The employee must have the ability to work in a small cubicle and have the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.

WHAT WILL GIVE YOU THE COMPETITIVE EDGE (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Supervisory experience in workforce.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
  • Experience with Disaster Cycle Services (DCS), FEMA ICS protocols, or comparable systems.
  • Proven leadership in coordinating volunteer or logistics teams during emergencies.
  • Coordinating & organizing teams.
  • Experience in creating and delivering training programs and curriculum.
