Job Description

Overview of the Position:

The Compliance Specialist will oversee all aspects of trade compliance, ensuring the company adheres to U.S. import/export regulations, including ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) requirements. This role involves acting as the primary contact for import/export-related questions, conducting training, managing documentation, and ensuring full regulatory compliance. Additionally, the Compliance Specialist will manage specialized customers and/or projects with complex operational needs, identifying unique requirements and coordinating resources to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations. The manager will coordinate with internal departments, foreign trade teams, and government agencies to ensure adherence to trade regulations and company standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Conduct periodic and ongoing training sessions for team members on trade compliance topics.
  • Coordinate with leadership and other foreign trade departments on government-requested documentation, audits, and visits.
  • Participate in HEICO trade compliance quarterly calls and recommend other team members to join specific topic discussions.
  • Manage all import/export documentation, ensuring compliance with federal regulations.
  • Conduct audits of trade compliance processes and follow up with freight forwarders for shipments requiring additional filings or corrections, while ensuring accuracy and obtaining delivery confirmation to the destination.
  • Collaborate with sales teams to identify and address product, software, or technology requiring specific licenses for import/export.
  • Identify and manage specialized customers and/or projects with complex operational and compliance needs, ensuring trade regulations and requirements are met.
  • Coordinate resources and cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with special operational requirements for each project.
  • Stay up-to-date on all applicable U.S. import/export regulations, including changes to ITAR, EAR, and other trade compliance requirements, while working closely with upper management to implement regulatory updates and ensure company-wide compliance.
  • Oversee the proper classification of company products, software, technology, and services for regulatory compliance.
  • Manage and audit ACE portal filings for import/export shipments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Ensure data accuracy related to trade compliance in the ERP system.

Requirements

Education / Experience Requirements: High School Diploma or G.E.D; Preferred: Bachelor's degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Minimum of 3 years of experience in trade compliance, logistics, or a related field. Familiarity with ITAR, EAR, and other U.S. trade compliance regulations. Experience managing government orders and packaging requirements is a plus.
