The Logistics Supervisor is a combination role of production planning/scheduling and warehouse supervising.
The Logistics Supervisor will plan and prepare schedules, control work-in-process and finished goods inventories in accordance with customer requirements, establish inventory levels and economic production quantities, monitor production results and input material availability to determine required production schedule changes, optimize equipment utilization and recommend capacity adjustments as necessary, publish production schedules as required and provide regular reporting for inventory levels and shipping lead times, coordinates raw material requirements with appropriate purchasing personnel.
The Logistics Supervisor is also responsible for overseeing a wide variety of warehouse activities including shipping and receiving raw materials and/or finished goods and maintaining inventory and associated records. People management responsibilities include training, planning and assigning daily work, addressing performance issues, and resolving problems.

Reports to: Plant Controller
Span of Control: 4 Hourly Direct Reports
1. Livethe Safety stand, adhere to the safety responsibilities.
2. Production Planning/Scheduling
- Prepare production schedules to meet customer requirements, maintain appropriate inventories, and optimize equipment utilization.
- Publish production schedules as required.
- Monitor production results and input material availability to determine required production schedule changes.
- Provide regular reporting for inventory levels and shipping lead times.
- Coordinate raw material requirements with appropriate purchasing personnel.
- Monitor equipment utilization and recommend capacity adjustments as necessary.
- Communicate scheduled delivery date and any changes as required.
- Communicate inventory levels and issues with corporate representatives.
- Work with technical teams to conduct and coordinate product trials.
- Troubleshoot production/labeling issues as needed.
- Work with customer service to meet customer requests.
- Work with production schedulers of internal customer plants to manage inventories and eliminate product loss due to life issues.
- Assist production through special projects as needed.
- Assist SAP Local Data Steward with routings.
- Meet customer needs simultaneously with plant needs.
- Build a reliable partnership with operations.
- Coordinate and change as needed all customer orders as to which warehouse they are to ship.
3. Warehouse Supervising
- Monitor and assist in the acquisition, management, and inventorying of Outside Warehousing as needed to maintain inventory awareness.
- Perform cycle and full annual inventory counts for the local plant directed by Corporate Audit and assist the outside warehouse.
- Interact with third party shipping companies.
- Supervise and assist in daily warehouse and shipping areas including: filling and shipping customer order, satisfying internal shipping requirements (technical service, vendors, etc.), ensuring accuracy of shipments and supporting documentation, receiving incoming material and routing to appropriate area or personnel, filling work orders from production, packaging assemblies and receiving into finished goods, ensuring inventory transactions are accurately logged and overseeing reconciliations activities.
- Measuring and reporting the effectiveness of the department activities.
- Developing and maintaining departmental work instructions for all tasks.
- Establishing or adjusting work procedures to meet warehouse demands as dictated by production schedules and workflow.
- Interpreting company policies to workers and enforcing safety regulations.
- Recommending measures to improve quality of service, increasing efficiency of department and work crew and equipment performance.
- Continuously improve warehouse operations using lean enterprise practices.
- Conferring with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments and serving internal customers.
- Maintains storage area by organizing floor space; adhering to storage design principles; recommending improvements.
- Management and training of hourly warehouse employees.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Relevant warehouse and manufacturing experience (supervisory experience preferred).
- Degree preferred in supply chain management, engineering, business or related field.
- Experience utilizing computer programs and Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Production planning and inventory management.
- Experience using SAP or other Enterprise Resource Planning systems.
- SAP Reporting Tools - Business Intelligence, Power Business Intelligence.
- Solid foundation of operating in Microsoft Excel.
