A Geoscience Technician's primary responsibility will be to coordinate the subsurface technical data related tasks for Diamondback's geoscience staff.

Responsibilities will include database input, manipulations, and retrieval while ensuring quality control and resolving any data conflicts. Applicant should have the skills necessary to move data between software platforms efficiently and accurately. Common job tasks include log data quality control and loading, software updates, management and organization of geologic data in a common database, datum transformations, well trajectory input, and occasional mapping and cross-section construction under direction from geologic staff.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with other data management personnel in a multi-disciplinary environment to assure smooth flow of information across company personnel.
  • Collaborate with geologic staff in the development and support of best practice workflows in subsurface data management.
  • Collaborate with Diamondback GIS personnel to bring functionality into the Geoscience Department.
  • Compile, clean, and curate extensive geological datasets from a variety of internal and external sources
  • Drive data quality management within the geosciences group by actively monitoring and QA/QC of subsurface data.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in petroleum related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years' experience combined in geoscience, administration, and/or an engineering tech role
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
  • Familiarity in at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Python, SQL)
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability
