WAGES AND BENEFITS

$24.00 per hour; Generous Paid Time Off (PTO), 24 hours of paid employee volunteer time, plus nine paid holidays and two floating holidays; competitive health, dental, and vision insurance; Health Savings Account (HSA), and options for Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA). There is employer paid basic life insurance with the option for additional coverage paid by the employee. The employer pays for Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) and short- and long-term disability insurance. MACC sponsors a retirement plan with a 4% employer match plus a 2% employer contribution after one year of service and immediate vesting.

A Typical Day in the Life...

A typical day as MACC's Accounting Clerk provides an opportunity to support full financial services for a select group of member organizations, including significant work in accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliation. Responsibilities will include the following:



  • Receiving and processing vendor invoices, employee reimbursements, and credit card charges for our members via Ramp, our expense management software.
  • Reviewing the above transactions for accurate account coding and communicating with members on suggested changes or discrepancies.
  • Preparing a suggested vendor payment list each week in conjunction with Controller review, obtaining proper approvals, and creating checks in expense management software.
  • Occasionally processing AP outside of expense management software for members not on the platform.
  • Reviewing AP aging and following up on any discrepancies.
  • Obtaining completed IRS Form W-9 from all new payees.
  • Preparing IRS Forms 1099 annually and as required and being responsible for correcting any information discrepancies occurring after submission.
  • Maintaining proper documentation and filing of paid bills.
  • Obtaining deposit information from members and inputting it into accounting software.
  • Depositing checks via mobile banking for each member as required.
  • Corroborating deposit support with amounts deposited.
  • Maintaining deposit support in folders or in Sage Intacct, whichever is appropriate.
  • Applying payments received to outstanding accounts receivable invoices as necessary.
  • Reviewing unapplied payments and moving them where they are needed.
  • Making deposit runs to banks as needed to physically deposit member cash and checks.
  • Saving grant award letters in audit folders as they are received throughout the year.
  • Recording year-end deposits in the correct year per the member's fiscal year-end.
  • Reviewing cost center 10000 in the P&L each month and moving anything in there to its proper coding.
  • Assisting the Controller in preparing work papers for annual audits and responding to audit inquiries.



Who You Are



  • You hold a bachelor's degree in a relevant field or demonstrate equivalent knowledge gained through alternative courses of study and life experience.
  • You have a minimum of two years of previous experience in accounts payable and/or accounts receivable.
  • You have two years of previous experience with accounting software, Sage Intacct, or similar applications.
  • You have two years of previous experience with expense management software, Ramp, or similar platforms.
  • You understand the human services nonprofit sector and have experience working in a nonprofit setting.
  • You are able to come into the office once per week at a minimum, unless otherwise directed, to process any manual checks and member deposits.
  • You demonstrate strong attention to detail.
  • You exhibit excellent Microsoft Excel skills and familiarity with other Microsoft Office products.
  • You showcase excellent quantitative and analytical skills.
  • You possess proficiency with Sage Intacct or similar accounting applications.
  • You possess proficiency with Ramp or similar expense management applications.
  • You demonstrate strong skills in customer service.
  • You have the ability to analyze and reconcile financial information effectively.
  • You have the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, with interruptions, simultaneously and accurately.
  • You are a strong communicator, both orally and in writing.
  • You have the ability to work independently, use good judgment, and take direction.
  • You hold a valid driver's license, have access to reliable transportation, and meet MACC's driving record requirements. Please note that if the license was not issued in the state of Minnesota, you have 60 days after becoming a Minnesota resident in which to apply for your Minnesota driver's license or permit (not applicable for new hires living out of state).
