Position Summary: The BSA Compliance Officer develops, implements, and administers all aspects of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) compliance programs. This individual ensures the bank adheres to all applicable federal and state laws and regulations and maintains a strong internal control environment to detect and prevent financial crimes. This role is eligible for hybrid work from home opportunity under the work from home guidelines up to one day per week upon completion of onboarding.

Essential Functions:



  • Effectively manage the bank's BSA-AML Program to comply with regulatory requirements, including ongoing risk assessments, implementation of controls, and coordination with internal and external auditors and examiners.
  • Develop, evaluate, and coordinate processes and procedures regarding investigations of financial crime activity, including coordination with law enforcement and government officials.
  • Oversee transaction monitoring systems and ensure timely investigation and filing of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs).
  • Manage high-risk customer monitoring, including Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) and ongoing reviews.
  • Oversee implementation and ongoing monitoring of the bank's financial crimes software (Verafin); including establishing valid alert parameters, adequate testing, and development of improved processes and procedures to mitigate the bank's risk and reduce losses to customers who are victims of scams.
  • Coordinate and/or review compliance training initiatives within all bank areas regarding BSA/AML.
  • Oversee the bank's fraud investigation program, including detection, escalation, and resolution of fraud cases; coordinate with internal departments and external agencies, analyze fraud trends and develop strategies to prevent future occurrences, maintain a case management system for tracking fraud incidents and outcomes, and provide reporting to management.
  • Ensure the department is adequately staffed and provide leadership and performance management including ongoing coaching and development.
  • Oversee the bank's legal request process, including research and submission of required documents. Provide testimony as required in court cases.
  • Serve as primary resource for bank fraud and BSA, AML, OFAC program questions.
  • Support the bank's platform software(s) and other systems regarding BSA/AML and fraud, including working with applicable departments to identify gaps and implement mitigating controls.
  • Ensure subordinates are trained and comply with bank policy, laws and regulations applicable to their roles. Monitor subordinates' adherence to internal controls and take action to address employee performance issues.
  • Understand and adhere to all bank policies, laws and regulations applicable to their role. Complete compliance training; follow internal processes and controls as required.
  • Report all compliance issues, violations of law or regulations in accordance with the steps defined in bank policies.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Perform or assist with other job-related duties or special projects as assigned.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in BSA/AML/OFAC compliance management within a financial institution.
  • CAMS, CAFP, or equivalent certification required (or received within one year of hire date).
  • Strong knowledge of BSA, USA Patriot ACT, OFAC, and relevant regulations.
  • Supervisor experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, financial accounting systems and software.

Working Environment:
