Job Summary:

The Director of Product Management is responsible for developing and driving the product vision and strategy for the Globalstar IoT product portfolio inclusive of all its hardware and software products and satellite services. The role requires domain expertise and thorough knowledge of the satellite IoT industry for product management, strategic planning, roadmap management, product development, market analysis, and pricing. The position engages with senior management, sales, marketing, engineering, finance, channel partners and customers to fulfill the role's responsibilities.

Supervisory Responsibilities:



  • Supervise and manage a team of technical product managers, setting clear expectations, conducting regular performance reviews, and providing constructive feedback to ensure high performance and professional growth within the team.
  • Oversee the allocation of resources and workload across the team, ensuring that each technical product manager is effectively managing their projects and that priorities are aligned with business objectives.


Duties/Responsibilities:



  • Responsible to work with Globalstar product engineering, marketing, sales, business development, finance, and management teams to develop and manage the satellite IoT product portfolio; define strategic product direction, product roadmap, pricing, competitive analysis and product positioning.
  • Directly responsible for existing and new product portfolio, managing products and solutions under development in support of Globalstar's technology and revenue strategies, incorporating platforms, API's and system integration.
  • Responsible for IoT product pricing strategy.
  • Analyze and define the market, including competitive analysis for future satellite IoT product and service needs for Globalstar. Oversee market research, monitor competitive activity and market share, and identify customer needs.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of satellite IoT industry domain solutions, applications and use cases to ensure Globalstar and its products are innovative, competitive, industry leading, and meet the needs of its customers.
  • Evaluate, measure, and monitor existing product functionality and performance, manage product life cycle.
  • Develop short and long-term product go-to-market plans for IoT products with marketing and sales teams.
  • Develop market and product requirements document (MRD's and PRD's) with emphasis on customer solution requirements, design business cases. Serve as a key contributor to technical requirements document (TRD's) in coordination with product engineering to ensure effective requirement flowdown processes.
  • Lead all product launch activities for new products or features.
  • Assist sales as needed with RFP's, RFI's and RFQ's.
  • Assist marketing to develop sales and marketing specific materials.
  • Provide training to distribution partners, customers, and Globalstar team members on product portfolio, applications, solutions and use cases.
  • Work with sales, business development, channel management, marketing, finance and management to forecast sales and revenue.
  • Coordinate directly with supply chain team to monitor product and component inventory supply to ensure product availability to meet sales forecasts.
  • Prepare and present reports regularly and on an as-needed basis.
  • Present product strategy, plans, product performance, and market research and findings to senior management as needed.
  • Ensure optimal level of customer satisfaction, internally and externally.

  • Ability to translate ideas and vision into product definition, requirements, presentations, and communications
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Comprehensive understanding API integrate and SaaS/PaaS B2B products
  • Ability to successfully partner with diverse technological, sales and marketing groups
  • Understanding of applicable electronic components and software
  • Understanding of distribution channels, go-to-market strategies and market research methodologies
  • Working knowledge with Java, C, C++, and other programming languages
  • Six Sigma/Quality knowledge a plus


Education, Experience, and Licenses/Certifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • 10+ years of experience in Product Management specific to wireless and/or satellite technologies managing software and connectivity devices, IoT experience required
  • Experienced in product development, product launches, and solution API integration with cloud service platforms


Physical Requirements:



  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed
  • Willingness and ability to work after regularly scheduled hours as needed
  • Ability to sit at a desk for prolonged periods working on a computer (4 to 8 hours)
  • Ability to operate the equipment used for the job
  • Ability to lift 15 pounds at times
