Graphic Design Specialist

Come help shape the growth of Johnson Outdoors by supporting the graphic design for our iconic outdoor brands in Fishing, Watercraft, Camping and Diving!

The person in this role develops and executes simple to moderately complex innovative graphic designs for print and digital projects. They will collaborate with internal teams and external resources to develop designs to support Digital eCommerce COE initiatives and project goals. Ensures graphic designs promote brand identity and align with organizational initiatives/strategies.

Based in beautiful and affordable Racine, Wisconsin, at our Headquarters on the shore of Lake Michigan, you'll have incredible access to a variety of outdoor activities whether skiing and snowmobiling in winter, or kayaking, fishing, sailing, hiking or more in summer. Close to both Milwaukee and Chicago, the area boasts a wide variety of amenities including a vibrant arts and culture scene and a host of unique, creative dining options.

Note: This role is a hybrid work schedule (3 days in office/2 remote)

What you will do:



  • Creates simple to moderately complex innovative visual concepts and designs for print and digital media, including brochures, websites, advertisements, and social media.
  • Conceptualizes, develops, and executes creative ideas from rough sketches to finalized designs, according to project requirements. Creates and edits digital assets such as photos, illustrations, logos, and other graphic elements.
  • Works collaboratively with various internal teams to understand project requirements, align design concepts with overall project goals, and deliver designs that meet objectives. Collaborates on all stages of creative development, from conceptualization to implementation and testing.
  • Selects appropriate typography, color schemes, and layouts to enhance visual aesthetics.
  • Ensures design work adheres to brand guidelines and maintains consistency across projects.
  • Tests graphics across various media and adjusts based on feedback and performance data.
  • Utilizes design software like Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) to produce high-quality designs.
  • Stays updated with the latest design trends, tools, and technologies to bring fresh ideas to the table.
  • Communicate effectively to understand their needs and present design concepts for approval.


What you need to succeed:



  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, graphic design or equivalent.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 2 years of graphic design experience displaying a variety of design work.
  • Working knowledge of graphic design techniques, tools, and best practices.
  • Strong conceptual thinker who is able to create innovation visual solutions and translate ideas into concepts.
  • Knowledge of photography, typography, lithography and pre-press functions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as design software such as the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and demonstrated HTML skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to effectively collaborate across internal teams and with external vendors. Ability to articulate design concepts effectively.
  • Demonstrated skills in effectively working with project teams, managing multiple timelines and ensure goals are met.
  • Strong attention to detail with an understanding of the importance of design consistency, brand identity, and high-quality output.
  • Excellent skills in problem solving, organization, creativity, and innovation.
