Job Title: Manager, Generation Interconnection

Position Overview:

The Generation Interconnection Manager leads Duquesne Light's Interconnection team and collaborates with other cross-functional teams within the Company to ensure the interconnection process is followed in accordance with applicable regulations and corporate policies. The Interconnection Manager is a working manager, contributing to the outputs of the team.

Location: Hybrid, Downtown Pittsburgh, PA

Responsibilities:



  • Manage staffing, performance, and prioritization of day-to-day work of the Generation Interconnection team and facilitate collaboration cross-functionally across the organization as required to position the Company for desired outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain current knowledge of applicable distribution generation and net-metering interconnection rules and regulations; perform annual updates to procedures followed by the Interconnection team to ensure and maintain compliance.
  • Collaborate with System Planning to ensure distribution generation interconnection projects are properly studied, and appropriate interconnection and network upgrade projects are developed.
  • Provide oversight, and work with other groups to ensure the timely completion of the customer distribution generation interconnection application installations by working with internal stakeholders (such as Technical Service Representatives (TSR), Business Services, Engineering, System Planning, and Metering).
  • Partner with internal stakeholders (such as Billing and Metering) to respond to customer inquiries regarding net metering impacts and billing questions.
  • Ensures maintenance of efficient and compliant records of the distribution generation interconnection process.



Education/ Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline such as engineering, business, or other applicable discipline required
  • Master's degree preferred
  • 7+ years' industry experience required



Skills and Abilities Utilized in this Role Include:



  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and SharePoint.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Adaptability, flexibility, and comfort with working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Prompt executor.

Scope:

Primary focus is on day-to-day management of operational execution. Also develops and exercises business plans, policies, and procedures. Contributes to proactive planning exercises of management team as requested. Trains and develops staff. Plans the workflow. Looks for areas of process improvement and directs available resources to accomplish this. Leads changes and implementations for direct team as pushed down through the organization.

Supervisory:

Generally, roles managed are professional in nature.

Decision Impact:

Resolves problems of greater complexity. Improves existing processes & systems using conceptualizing, reasoning, & interpretation skills. Solutions require thorough understanding of business strategies and issues. Defines broad based solutions that would require consideration of wider implications on organization results & resources.

Hybrid Work:

Position follows our hybrid work model, with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.

Storm Roles:

All Non-Union Employees will serve in storm roles as appropriate to their role and skillset. Please be sure to discuss storm roles with the hiring manager for this position, as duties can vary across the Company. Examples of storm roles could include, but aren't limited, to duties such as: working with operations for service center support, working with the communications, customer service or government affairs teams to respond to public and customer requests for information, performing line sitting to keep the public safe from hazards, etc.

Utilize data to make business decisions as appropriate for the position, support data stewardship activities, and partner with IT on underlying data needs.
