NURSE INTERN - OBSEVERATION / CLINICAL DECISION UNIT - PRN / CONTINGENT - DAY SHIFT

Shift: Days, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, 36 hours per 6-week scheduling period minimum

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Unit Description:

Henry Ford St John Hospital's Observation / Clinical Decision Unit is a 28-bed unit specializing in ambulatory patients (ie/ chest pain, TIA, abdominal pain, home falls, etc.). As an extension of the Emergency Department, we do periodically have our staff float between Emergency and Observation as needed. We are a group of team-oriented Physicians (stationed in the department!), Registered Nurses, and Patient Care Technicians. Come join our team!

• Under the supervision of a nurse, provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
• Completes assigned nursing orders as directed by preceptor, including assisting patient with activities of daily living and taking vital signs.
• Observes patient status and responses.
• Documents and reports observations to preceptor or other appropriate staff.
• Assists preceptor with development of care plan by reporting test results and patient observations.
• Performs other tasks as assigned, including environmental services and preparing/transporting patients for diagnostic services.
