Job Summary:

The Histology Program Director is responsible for providing strategic leadership, program oversight, and collaborative direction to ensure excellence in clinical operations, innovation, and educational outcomes of the Histology Program.The Histology Program Director will guide the continued development and expansion of strategic initiatives to grow the program and achieve long-term goals. They will directly oversee the Histology Manager, providing mentorship and training to ensure effective management of daily operations and continuous improvement across all facets of the program. Key Responsibilities:
- Develops and oversees the histotechnologist in training program. Administering benchmark written and practical exams.
- Works with laboratory personnel to develop, revise and implement new preparatory and staining techniques. Updates policy and procedures as needed. Benchmarks the work performance of laboratory. Troubleshoots problem areas and works to maintain high quality in all facets of the laboratory production. Works with pathologists to assure quality and usefulness of preparations.
- Coordinates personnel matters for Histology with Histology Manager. Includes position establishment, recruitment, affirmative action, hiring, termination processes and annual staff performance evaluations. Facilitates and promotes staff development and training.
- Recruits qualified lab aides, observes them for one year in concert with the Histology Supervisor, then enters those in good standing into the Histotechnologist in Training Program if they desire.
- Maintains positive working relationships and lab harmony.

Qualifications:
|
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
- A bachelor's degree in biological science, nutrition, nursing, health, human services, psychology, counseling, social work, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
- Valid HTL and QIHC ASCP certificates.
- Minimum 7 years' experience in Histology and Immunohistochemistry Supervision.
A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis. Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree preferred

Anticipated Pay Range:
|
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $93,509-$118,943 The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level. Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck.
