Position: Process Technician I
Shift: Monday - Monday-Thursday 6:15 am-4:45 pm with possible OT on Friday-Sunday (possible OT on Friday-Sunday)

Pay: $24.41/hour

SIGN ON BONUS: $1000 *
*$500 is given at 90 days and $500 at 6 months.

While reporting to the Supervisor, you will be responsible for Perform tasks that are necessary to provide high quality, efficient, timely shipment of Sonoco products. Drive process improvement through improved process documentation, reduction of waste, and efficient changeovers.

What you will be doing:

  • The safety and health of employees take precedence over all duties of this job.
  • Actively works to engage employees in the safety program to crate the right habits for working safely
  • Uses team work and works with all associates to manufacture product using the approved safety processes, quality specifications and efficiently as possible.
  • Monitors cycle times and adjusts as needed.
  • Utilize established process settings to maintain overall quality and throughput
  • Monitors operations process, work, and material flow to ensure quality and customer specs are met.
  • Correct errors and work with operators to constantly improve process clarification and effectiveness.
  • Perform safe and organized machine changeovers
  • Perform all required quality checks including hourly burst tests, verification of production dimensions, and weight.
  • Perform first piece sign off check, along with quality, as part of tool change process.
  • Provide technical support to shift for trouble shooting and problem resolution.
  • Assists maintenance with preventative maintenance projects.
  • Conducts test and trial runs as needed.
  • Recommends and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Perform audits
  • Assist with movement of product via PIT (once licensed) or pallet jack
  • Maintains cleanliness of work area.
  • Trains other Process Technicians as needed.
  • Performs all duties in a manner that demonstrates the highest level of quality and safety.
  • Ability to work extended hours depending on work demand
  • Must be willing to help palletize the gel and brick lines
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

We'd love to hear from you if:

  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Being reliable, having good initiative, being committed, and being quality focused is a must.
  • Forklift Certified (preferred)
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Understanding of how to read mechanical and part blueprints
  • Must be able to read and or understand written and verbal policy, instruction and directions in English.
