Essential Job Duties
Duties include:

  • Grow and maintain wild-type Arabidopsis, pennycress, and camelina plants for plant transformation.
  • Perform agrobacteria-mediated plant transformation to generate transgenic lines in Arabidopsis, pennycress, and camelina.
  • Perform genotyping (by PCR) and phenotyping of the transgenic lines, including various seed and growth traits (size, weight, growth, flowering time) assessment.
  • Assist in seed fatty acids and protein analysis preparation - fatty acid and protein isolation.
  • Data collection and statistical analysis.

Minimum Experience/Education
  • Relevant Master's degree or Relevant Bachelor's and 3 or more years of relevant experience, or relevant independent experience and education
Department Required Skills

  • Experience in basic molecular biology research (PCR, Gel electrophoresis, documentation)
  • Experience in using automatic tissue grinder and high-throughput DNA technique
  • Experience in performing large-scale, filter-based PCR setup for genotyping analysis
  • Good interpersonal skills that include oral and written communication skills
  • Flexibility with work schedule as needed
  • Able to work alone and as part of a highly collaborative team

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

  • Experience in using Laboratory Information Management Systems
  • Able to help with whole genome sequencing related experiments

Required License or Certification
  • Valid driver's license
