Position Purpose

A desk attendant in the Science Learning Center is the first person a student interacts with when entering the center.

The desk attendant is responsible for helping students enter the center, log in, and find the correct tutor.

The desk attendant will answer questions and help students and tutors direct students as needs arise.

This is a Federal Work Study student worker position. Please check with the Gateway Center regarding your federal work study eligibility prior to applying for this position.


Essential Functions

Welcome student to the Science Learning Center, help them sign in, and help students with basic information.

Desk attendants will also complete other duties as assigned included but not limited to print, answer the phone, clean, organize, and assist the Science Learning Center Coordinator.

The primary role of this position is to communicate to students and tutors and assist in small tasks to support student success.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

you are currently enrolled as a Stark State College student.

You are enrolled in a Natural Science course or have declared a science degree.

Stark State College utilizes E-Verify to ensure compliance with applicable employment eligibility laws. E-Verify is an electronic system used to confirm the employment eligibility of new hires.
