Substation Engineering Intern

E2 is seeking a Substation Engineering Summer Intern for our Substation group in our El Monte office. Candidates must be pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (junior or senior status preferred) and possess a valid driver's license. This position will design electrical installation and protection and control (P&C) components for electrical substation projects, including but not limited to, single- and three-line diagrams, AC/DC Elementary diagrams, Relay Rack wiring diagrams, Electrical Equipment wiring diagrams, and Bill of Materials. The successful candidate will report directly to the Substation Engineering Manager.

Works under the direction of E2 Senior/Principal Engineers, Designers and Engineering Managers.
• Apply basic knowledge of engineering principles and practices to design in substation P&C.
• On a task basis, assist in the preparation and completion of discipline engineering designs and supporting documentation such as design criteria, calculations, drawings and specifications.
• Works closely with design team and other substation design disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
• Quickly become familiar with client and E2 Policies and Business Unit procedures, comply with procedural requirements for document/deliverable generation.
• Must be willing to perform self-study to get up to speed learning substation P&C design principles.
• Not only does he/she perform quality work but also performs a self-check of his/her own work prior to submittal to senior E2 designers/engineers.
• Capable of preparing drawings using AutoCAD.
• Manages personal task assignments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 2.8 GPA.
• Valid California Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications

• AutoCAD experience.

Hourly range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr. The starting pay will be commensurate with skill, education, experience, and working environment.
