This position reports to

R&D/Technology Manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to ABB's success with technology, software, products, and system development. We are looking to appoint an R&D Engineer to support the ELSP (Smart Power) business at our site. While displaying strong leadership skills in a team environment, the engineer should demonstrate experience in design, quality, safety, compliance, and new product implementation.
The work model for the role will be on-site in Bloomfield, CT. #LI-Hybrid
You will be mainly accountable for:
* Design, development, and manufacturing implementation of engineering programs that meet business standards and program / product requirements.
* Plan, execute, and report on the technical design, schedule, and test results of a program with guidance from senior engineering resources.
* Ability to work in an Agile work environment, pull backlog items and deliver them to acceptance criteria requirements, proactively engaging with Product Owner and align with Scrum master in case of impediments.
* Execute designs with solid modeling software (PTC Creo / Windchill) to create models, assemblies, detailed drawings, and BOMs for designs which may include plastic, stamped metal, and electrically conductive parts.
* Understanding and applying applicable processes, standards, guidelines, and requirements, including architectural and design constraints.

Qualifications for the role
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical/electrical engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of engineering experience
  • 2+ years of product development experience of industrial and/or electrical products
  • Experience with design software (Creo/ Windchill) preferred
  • Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
