Genesis Marine is safe, reliable and efficient with the right equipment for the industry's marine transportation needs. We primarily serve refineries and storage terminals along the Gulf Coast, East Coast, Canada, Great Lakes, Intracoastal Canal and western river systems of the United States, including the Red, Ouachita and Mississippi Rivers on which Genesis has significant existing terminals.Genesis Marine owns and operates two fleets, inland and offshore, including approximately 130 vessels. Our state-of-the-art barges coupled with the best liquid cargo mariners make us the safest, most efficient carrier of inland, hot-oil cargoes. Our inland fleet consists of approximately 82 barges and 33 push-boats and our offshore fleet consists of nine boats and nine barges and one ocean going tanker. We have a total design capacity of 2.3 mmbbl for Inland Marine Operations, 0.9 mmbbl for Offshore Marine Operations and 0.3 mmbbl for the M/T American Phoenix (ocean-going tanker).We provide a safe and competitive service, adhering to strict operating procedures which are designed to not only meet, but also exceed customer & regulatory requirements.
Key Duties:
- Works with Manager - Fleet Inland Maintenance to direct, supervise and monitor planned and unplanned repairs on tank barge fleet working within established budgets and time frames.
- Oversees all regulatory inspections for tank barge fleet. Addresses and corrects any issues arising from inspections.
- Collects bids for major shipyard work & tracks financials for assigned projects.
- Monitors the contractor and/or shipyard during maintenance & repair projects.
- Conducts on-site surveys of vessels / barges & equipment to determine maintenance and repair needs.
- Coordinates the purchasing of parts and services for repair and maintenance projects.
- Responds to emergency calls during weekends, holidays, and nights.
- Assists with the development of planned maintenance budgets.
- Manages and maintains records for preventative maintenance program.
- Provides backup support to maintenance staff for vacations, illnesses, and as otherwise needed.
- Serves as backup for vessel maintenance and repair issues.
- Ensures compliance with state and federal barge operation regulations.
- Adheres to all company policies.
Required Skills, Experience, and Education:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3 years of experience maintaining tugs or barges, preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Experience repairing heaters/boilers preferred.
- Proficient in Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of oil transportation and marine industry, preferred.
- Knowledge of tugs and barge maintenance systems and equipment.
- Ability to repair marine equipment on site under adverse conditions.
- Ability to deal with others using courtesy, tact, and good judgment.
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of all sensitive communications.
- Ability and willingness to travel to various states.
- Ability to understand and execute complex oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work independently with minimal or no guidance.
- Ability to get along with office staff and vessel crewmembers.
- Must be physically fit enough to board barges and tugs.
- Must have or be able to secure a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card to obtain access to restricted facility areas.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
