Job Description

Dewberry's Richmond, VA office is seeking a Civil Engineer who is looking for an opportunity to grow and take on more responsibility. Our growing, fast-paced site/civil engineering practice seeks a client focused, highly motivated and organized engineer. The Civil Engineer will be responsible for the design of a wide variety of site/civil projects, with initial focus on Land Development. Projects will include permitting, site layout and development, grading and erosion control, drainage and storm water, and public outreach. Knowledge of local and state laws and proven ability regarding site development drawing production required.

Responsibilities

    Site/civil development including grading design, roadway design, storm water management systems design, and erosion and sediment control design.
  • Preparation of all associated calculations, reports and spreadsheets.
  • Collaborating with design teams in all aspects of a given project to develop detailed design documents for construction plans.
  • May also conduct code research, write specifications, and assist in the permitting process.


Required Skills & Required Experience

  • BS degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • EIT is required.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office is required.
  • 3+ years of progressive design experience directly related to site/civil development projects.
  • Proven track record of meeting project and client deadlines.
  • Works in a timely fashion to meet project budgets.
  • Communicates effectively with clients, coworkers, sub consultants, and review agency staff.
  • Composes technical reports, memorandums and other written communication such as email.
