We are seeking a dedicated Cable Technician I to support the installation, testing, and maintenance of telecommunications and network cabling infrastructure within a Department of Defense (DoD) environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with copper and fiber optic systems and a strong understanding of industry standards and testing procedures. Key Responsibilities: Assist in the installation, termination, and testing of fiber optic and copper cabling (e.g., CAT6). Analyze, administer, and maintain network cabling infrastructure across secure facilities. Utilize network cabling test equipment including copper testers, network testers, OTDRs, and fiber power meters to verify performance and troubleshoot issues. Adhere to BICSI standards, ensuring all installations meet industry best practices and DoD requirements. Support site surveys and infrastructure assessments to determine cabling needs and system improvements. Maintain accurate records of cable runs, testing results, and infrastructure layouts. Required Skills, Qualifications and Experience Citizenship and Clearance: US Citizenship is required. Must have and maintain a current DoD Secret clearance. Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience Experience: 3+ years of related telecommunications experience 3+ years of experience working as a Cable Technician within the DOD environment Certifications: Related certifications for Fiber Optic Cable and CAT6 Cable Installation Skills: Must be familiar with BICSI rules, regulations, and standards. Well versed in the use of network cabling test equipment including network testers, copper cable testers, fiber OTDRs and fiber power meters. Analyzes, administers, and maintains telecommunications and network cabling infrastructure. Work Environment and Physical Demand: Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer. May require ability to lift up to 50 lbs. May require the ability to crawl on the floor and in tight spaces, and climb ladders and elevated platforms to install equipment, cables, and fiber.
