Metra's Engineering Department is staffed with over 800 employees who work tirelessly applying technology and engineering principles in the design, construction, operation, and management of our network of infrastructure, facilities, and equipment so that customers can enjoy a safe, comfortable, economical, and dependable transit experience. Reporting to the Director, the Maintenance Analyst is responsible for budget management, payroll and work reporting, material ordering, inventory management, and various office administrative functions. Monitor expenses to ensure expenditures do not exceed allocations, prepare monthly analysis and annual forecasts, and initiate billing for capital and state projects, railroads, and other companies. Review department payroll records, daily work reports, and purchase documents to verify the accuracy of charges to the appropriate area, project or joint facility. Make recommendations for resolving identified problems or discrepancies. Monitor and analyze inventory usage and receiving documents and make corrections as needed. Review purchase transactions for compliance with Metra's accounting and purchasing policies and procedures and work with vendors and accounting department to resolve billing problems. Assist line Supervisors with ordering material and arranging delivery of materials, assists in handling of complaints in the absence of the Director. Works under both inside and outside environmental conditions under prevailing conditions of heat, cold, rain, and snow. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or in lieu of specified degree, any combination of education and experience may be substituted for the required degree that equals four (4) years in budgeting, accounting, or office administration. 2. In addition to #1, must have two (2) years of budgeting, accounting, or office administration experience. 3. Two (2) years of indirect supervisory experience that includes three (3) of the following responsibilities: day-to-day employee management, assigning tasks, providing guidance and training, monitoring performance, conflict management, budgeting, hiring, disciplinary and/or termination. 4.
