Position: Machine Operator -- Material Handler: 1st Shift

Position Summary: The Plant Material Handlers are responsible for the flow and staging of material throughout the plant to ensure smooth and efficient manufacturing operations. Material Handlers are also key individuals in maintaining housekeeping and safety standards, keeping aisles free and clear of materials, partnering with planning and inventory control to maintain material levels and allocation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follows the requirements of the assigned schedule to meet production demand.
  • Sets up materials, staging, and machinery based on established specifications
  • Cleans material areas, aisles, storage areas, and walkways to ensure a safe and clean environment that is free from unnecessary clutter
  • Notifies and advises the team leads and production management on issues and/or improvements pertaining to the storage and delivery of materials, along with forklift and other material handling equipment
  • Prepares work documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all production and regulatory policies and procedures
  • Follows all Milliken safety and quality guidelines, adhering to PPE and training requirements for position
  • Notifies and advises the team leads, production management and maintenance on all issues related to safety
  • Other duties as assigned, such as but not limited to: process and work flow improvement projects, new product development activities, quality investigations, etc.
  • Completes projects and tasks as assigned.
  • Advises the Production Manager on issues and improvements pertaining to areas of responsibility.
  • Any other reasonably related duties as assigned by supervisor or other higher level managers.

Qualifications: Required

  • High School diploma, GED and/or equivalent experience
  • Prior manufacturing experience, preferably within a regulated goods industry such as healthcare or food and beverage production.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbal and written
  • Familiarity with basic computer skills
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic math at an 8th grade level
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to assess visual differences between product, in color, size, pattern, etc.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs
  • Strong preference for Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) candidates
  • Willingness to embrace and embody the core values of Milliken/Ovik Health
