We are accepting applications for an Airport Fire Chief with proven leadership experience in the fire service and a demonstrated commitment to cultivating a positive, collaborative work environment. Job Summary:

Under limited supervision of the Rural Metro Regional Director and the Airport Operations Manager, provides leadership and day-to-day operational management of the fire department. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring compliance with 14 CFR Part 139 ARFF requirements in accordance with FAA Certification Standards and other federal, state and local laws.

Essential Functions: The following functions and all other functions not included in this job description are to be performed in the best interests and for the greater good of Rural Metro Fire.

* The Fire Chief has command authority on all ARFF related incidents, act in a DUTY capacity to respond as needed or requested.

* Establish and maintain clear communication and single line of management for the ARFF employees.

* Manage the ARFF Department to ensure optimum performance, preparedness, and professional development in the delivery of emergency preparedness and response at the assigned airport.

* Meet Part 139 Certification requirements in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and other federal, state and local laws as they pertain to ARFF. Ensure ARFF Units adhere to all legal, technical and administrative guidelines.

* Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures of records management for personnel, labor, training, equipment, and emergency response records.

* Monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods, procedures, techniques, and equipment utilized in the conduct of all activities assigned to firefighting personnel.

* Develop and maintain lines of communication and cooperation with peers in surrounding local, state, and federal agencies, coordinate joint operations with outside agencies, and mitigate conflicts with other departments or agencies.

* Direct and coordinate the development and implementation of ARFF department budgets,

* Direct and coordinate the development of annual budget requirements, implement strategies and evaluate trends to gain efficiencies while meeting response requirements.

* Review and make recommendations to RMFD Regional Director on training curriculum, procedures, equipment and processes to ensure the proper development and training of ARFF staff.

* Manage ARFF vacancies in coordination with the company's Human Resources departments.

* Provide recommendations to the Airport Operations Manager on all matters relating to the execution and management of ARFF functions.

* In addition to the responsibilities listed above, the selected candidate will be required, when necessary, to work emergencies and/or weather-related events (i.e. significant snowfall events), outside of normal working hours, inclusive of nighttime 12-hour shifts.

The above listed functions are not necessarily all the essential functions. Job duties and functions may be expanded or reduced by management based on future changing needs and job requirements.
